Wrong. You are hearing what you want to hear. He ended the statement with "....but he wont be joining their company based on tonights performance."

Compared to his hype yes. It was at least his least impressive one. Worth watching? no way.

Not any more. The guy is like Khan - put a certain type of opponent in front of him and he'll look like a border line ATG. But he's stylistically limited. Put a pressure/volume guy of any quality across from Pirog and he's in deep water, Im afraid.

It seems he has inherited Jacobs hype, but I cannot remember too much being said of Pirog before the Jacobs fight, and if he is hyped since, then why was he back fighting in Russia? If I am not mistaken, where he fought tonight is where they shot Tsar Nicholas II and his Fam.

Fair enough. Obviously rating him THAT high is/was crazy, but like I said, I think he's pretty legit actually, good fighter for sure.

Why do you think he struggles with that type of fighter? He's a strong, solid middleweight with a decent punch, he SHOULDN'T struggle with a pressure fighter.

Although strangely yeah, he does very well with a Jacobs type of fighter that gives him room to move/think etc.

  18. His_Royness

    His_Royness "Twinkle Toes" McJack

What's the type of opponent he'll look like an ATG against? He KOed Jacobs with a counter if i remember correctly. THe fights he looked less than spectacular was against guys who stay on the defensive and don't wanna win really.

Against a pressure guy who's coming at him i think he can look good countering.

I didn't, cheers for the update. Should be a decent scrap. May fancy Fury to beat Del boy. Fury's dad sounds like a nutter.

    He's not a nutter. Just a gypsy.

LT's career may now actually PROGRESS rather than REGRESS as it has been doing under his fathers tutelage.

Seriously, if this is all you can offer perhaps you should try laying off Boxrec a bit and actually watching a fight.

Inheriting Jacobs' hype would mean getting Haymon/Golden Boy/HBO hype and Pirog certainly hasn't done that yet.

Getting "hype" after a fight is much different than getting it before a fight, and Jacobs never got as much hype after a fight as he did before it.

Jacobs was an unproven fighter who'd been picking up doubters since the Michael Walker fight.

Which also means, it's not the best fighter to use when trying to form an opinion on another fighter (Pirog).

Unfortunately, neither is Maciel...who, outside of a handful of moments in the fight where he put some flurries together, looked like he was there primarily to go twelve.

  30. Irish

Jacobs will come again but it will be quietly this time. He needs plenty of fights on quiet undercards. Pirog won't be around for too much longer anyways.
