calderon fought his ass off despite losing. without a doubt the best calderon fight i've ever seen. he should get served in the rematch though.
Of course Calderon finally got his ass kicked. Despite his best efforts to once again cut himself with an intentional headbutt. Didn´t work, so he quit.
Ivan Calderon is probably the best pure boxer out there next to Floyd Mayweather. You guys maybe in for a big surprise. ::
he took a knee from a body shot (accumulative) and didn't get back up. not sure if i'd really call that quitting. plus, he fought back valiantly against the ropes when his legs weren't all there. i thought it was a very good fight and would've gotten more props had it been on hbo or showtime.
not sure if he's really hall of fame worthy (based on his shitty opposition w/ an exception of cazares), but he's a lock if he's able to pull off this win. i doubt it though.
If Calderon still got it he can and will outbox Segura for the win. But the only problem I see here is Calderon's age. Many consider him old for this weight class.
it's not just his age. segura is the best fighter he's ever faced. he's relentless and knows how to cut the ring to close the gap. i'm sure he'll attack to the body early and slow him down en route to a similar finish as the last time. only good thing going for calderon might be that segura struggles w/ weight and as he said it himself, this will be his final fight at jr. fly.
If Calderon is to win this one tho in all honesty, he has to do is early, which is really, highly unlikely, but I hope he gives a good account of himself as I like his style.
You like guys who run and hold a lot? That's not a style I like I hope he gets stopped again, hopefully face first on the canvas.
Calderon is cursed with no power. The shots he was landing on Segura, if he had power would have knocked him out. I see the rematch different. I believe Calderon figured Segura out towards the middle of the fight, however he was way too tired to capitalize on it.
Sure but due to his lack of power he often doesn't get his opponents respect which leads to holding and running.
Co-feature is actually Jorge Lacierva-Fernando Beltran Jr. Also on the card.... Article Link - http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=37541#ixzz1I0Y6gheg This is a legal waiver.
