Murray is facing Karim El Quazghari this saturday night (live on sky sports), aiming to defend his EBU (European) lightweight title for a second time. Murray has the longest unbeaten run in British boxing and has his sights set on a World title soon. New WBA champion Brandon Rios and WBC champ Humberto Soto have been mentioned as possible future opponents. Maybe a shot at either Katsidis or Guerrero who meet on the 9th April could be a possibility for Murray. What's your thoughts on Murray and do you think he has any chance at beating guys like Rios, Soto, Katsidis or Guerrero?
He'd have no shot in hell against Rios. Soto? Doubtful, but somewhat of a chance. Kat and Guerrero? Maybe.
Soto has very good handspeed. Fights well on the backfoot. I'd favor both Rios & Soto to beat Murray. Easily. Rios, far too strong & far too much for Murray to deal with, even tho he's there to be hit with his style and after watching the Acosta fight. Soto, would be far too technically good imo for Murray. Guerrero, stylistically and as a south-paw would prove to be a nightmare for Murray imo too and boy, he hits hard. He'd eventually spark Murray out I feel. I have a hard time convincing myself too that Murray would beat Katsidis. I think i'd pick Kats. Katsidis may be Murray's best shot out of these guys tho.
my internet cut off just as i posted... the gist of it was....Murray's very likeable, always comes to fight....but i'm not confident about him beating any of them...i think Guerrero would be his best shot, followed by Katsidis....that would be a right ole tear up for as long as it lasts
Murray threw a low blow, then the "Spanish" guy threw a headbutt, then the Ref took a point off the "Spaniard" and then Murray scored a "knockdown".
That ref was a joke. Murray was warned a handful of times for low blows and still didn't deduct a point and then El Quazghari was deducted a point for allegedly forcing a head butt on Murray (which didn't actually connect.) Murray was piss poor but won because he was the aggressor and landed the cleaner shots, even tho he was tagged a heck of alot. Murray looked clumsy alot and needs alot of improvement if he is to step up, but I don't think he can improve. Good scrap tho.
Never thought much of Murray from the little I've seen of him, he's good but at the very best will pick up a belt off an equally nondescript beltholder. Him and Mitchell could be a good little scrap though
