Dude, honestly, you said Herring was undefeated when he fought Fedor. And you said Fedor was out weighed by 20 pounds or more by 70% of his opponents.

Both of those are absolutely incorrect. And THEN you want to talk about facts?

Also, you criticize TLC for his posting, but in looking back through this thread you and your boy Filthy have done far more name calling than him.

That's the fundamental problem with Filthy's spreadsheet and stats. They are based on BS weights. Those weights he posted are not:

1) Their weights against Fedor
2) The weights from their last fights
3) Their heaviest or lightest weights
4) Their average weights

So what are they? He is talking about a comparison in the size between Fedor and his opponents yet the weight used FOR HIS OWN comparisons are meaningless. Period.

 

Dude, you make a comparison between the size of Fedor and his opponents but use weights that have absolutely zero meaning. You did all that work but your comparison is flawed from the very start. That is fundamental dude.

Also, I don't care HOW long you've been a fan of Mark Coleman. The bottom line is that Fedor outweighed him by 10 pounds each time they fought. That's not speculation or guess work, that's how they weighed in. It doesn't matter who you THINK is bigger because Fedor weighed more.

Trpl i dont google fight stats when posting. 70% was a speculative number. Years ago i remember Herring as a top HW in PRIDE at the time pf the Fedor fight and he was undefeated in PRIDE when they met. Sorry for the confusion. Well, again, I don't criticize anyone for getting facts wrong unless they call me a moron first. Trust me, I try to go by memory far too often and it ain't what it used to be by any means.

But Herring had actually already lost to Belfort and Nog in PRIDE before Fedor beat him. Despite that, and people may dispute this, but I believe Herring was actually the favorite going into Pride 23. And Fedor was the first guy I saw really beat Herring up however.

 

I am 35 yrs old. Most of this stuff happened so long ago.....all i have is (a shitty) memory recall. I dont get my opinions from youtube 10 years after the fact like some kids. If you actually recall Herrings fights prior to Fedor then i really need to know what vitamins youre taking. I dont even know where my fucking wallet is half the time .

Bro I'm getting tired of this. I've never once came at you until you decided to start critiquing stats or calling names. It just hasn't happened. TLC's list wasn't factual, at least when I was working on my Masters terms like dwarfed werent statiscallty reliable. I made the list based on the best database we have for fighter statistics. Sherdog has errors but what better comprehensive database is there? That's why I put it in the disclaimers. Even if all of the weights are wrong the heights don't change so it was anything but meaningless. My point about Fedor vs champions is true only one was outright smaller. My response to your resume question was also flat out true. Now I know you're no longer arguing that Fedor was the bigger guy in the majority of his fights. You don't disagree that's he's the smallest top ten HW today. And from what I can tell you're also not arguing that around half of his first ten or so fights were open weight in Rings?

So I'm going to take these as points of concession. I can tell you're a prideful guy and hate losing. You can't admit failure at least when it comes to me, and I get it. So I dont need you to say it but this could truly be a better forum if instead of being contrary by default we agreed to show respect by default. You are obviously a knowledgeable non bandwagon fan.

Exactly. When Fanboys get in the way of real discussion it turns in to a Twilight Team fairy vs. Team princess debate. Herring was not only greatly respected he was greatly feared. Since ATM likes YouTube so much look up "Herring gets kissed." I know you like the Reem but for the majority of us who've studied and invested heavily in the sport, he just hasn't proven his worth to be the mythical unicorn you think he is.

So like so many have stated Jones vs. Fedor today.. Jones loses.

The whole reason this thread went flame is because TLC was the opposite of civil. I don't remember seeing you involved in this discussion so maybe you're commentating late and uninformed.

Coming from the same people who are constantly bashing Overeem. It is amazing that is somehow considered some outlandish statement that the 30-40 193lb Europeans that Igor beat are somehow top flight competition.

He beat Mark Coleman. That is the extent of his MMA exploits. Oh, and getting starched in one by Cro Cop.

No absolutely, and that's the ONLY reason I remember it. I didn't watch Fedor in Rings at all. I knew about the fights and had watched highlights but Fedor wasn't a blip on my radar.

I was kind of on board with the commentators about Fedor. They didn't know much about him but they were very familiar with Herring. Fedor's ground and pound in that fight absolutely shocked the commentators and was a wake up call.
