We are all picking potatoes in the NPL- the National Potato League. Ever since it turned pro and offered mad cash last year, the fist-fighting has stopped and the potato-picking has begun in earnest. All the natural 147lb kids can now be found in fields with clay under their nails. They have swapped the heavy bag for the potato bag.
Well lets see: 1. Floyd Mayweather- legitimately talented fighter, perhaps the best natural talent since Roy Jones. But he is not interested in the biggest fight out there to be made. He also started his career at 130. 2. Sugar Shane. 39. Balco implicated. He's a good guy and I am grateful to him for bashing Margacheato, but he is coming off a loss- a decision loss- to Floyd, and that draw. He only gets the Pac fight because Floyd won't take it. Guy has won 2 of his last 5. 3. Andre Berto. Is from Haiti. Not America. Is also, for what it is worth, on the receiving end of a lot of criticism for his comp. 4. Victor Ortiz? Just got a draw in his last fight, is a noted quitter and was basically run out of 140 pretty much the same way Judah was 10 years ago. 5. Mike Jones- solid prospect, had a few hiccups, remains promising. 6. Mike Alvarado- again, a solid prospect. 7. Randall Bailey. Oh dear. 8. Brad Solomon- has no power, seems an efficient rather than dazzling fighter. COuld be a talent but where is the excitement? 9. Paul Malignaggi. I mean............How does a non-punching guy who was badly found out at 140, albeit by the best/better fighters, move up a division where he will be facing even bigger guys, and get a top 10 ranking???? 10. Shawn Porter :dunno:
Can you imagine what they'd do once Vitali implemented his Fat Joe "lean back" defense? It'd be like Pazienza trying to land a punch on Roy Jones.
Well his hands would be faster if he weighed less, no??? Is it not a general rule of boxing that smaller lighter men exhibit better speed and coordination? Or have Americans departed from even the most basic tenets of physics in order to embrace their Glen Beckisms more forcefully??
Don't forget that a midget Vitali would lean back 20 times faster than he does now. Also, since he now throws 80 punches per round, at welter I see him throwing 240. Also, he can not be hurt. How is Floyd gonna beat that?:hammert:
Don't overrate him. Its only Mitchell he is smacking around right now. As soon as BWJ and s_d show up, things gone change.
Yeah, yeah...Vitali's going to lose almost a foot of height and suddenly become Pacquiao in the speed department.
Why does he need to be Pacquaio? For the purposes of this little American-Boxing-History-X experiment, it will suffice that he has Andre Berto footspeed. After all, Berto has that HBO PPV feel to him. A few diamond encrusted time-pieces and bad suits, and Vitali should be about ready to go.
No, the size slows him down and decreases his stamina. Also, if his arms were not that heavy, he could throw technically perfect shots
According to my analysis he would be a Sugar Ray Leonard with a punch if he didn't suffer for his size
