With Shane being near 40 and a former PED user, I declare this one of the greatest Welterweight Title fights of all time.

If he gets rocked he might hold on for a second or two but he'll answer with fire immediately after.

Shane will hit Manny with a great shot, frantically follow-up missing more than landing then will spend the rest of the fight gassed.

Please, Pacquiao is just a better fighter and would have no reason to fear a prime version of Mosley.

I'd rank Duran as historically a better fighter than Thomas Hearns which didn't seem to help Duran stay upright in their fight.

    So would I.

Pacquiao is better AND greater than Shane.

I'm not saying Manny would have an easy night with prime Mosley, but i'd still have him as the favorite.

    Probably 7-5 in rounds.

Duran was better AND greater than Hearns as far as I'm concerned.

It certainly would have been a better fight, a pick 'em fight at Shane's prime. We could say Pac's in his prime at the moment.

I expect Shane to take a beating next month. Anything short of that would be a major surprise.

    When are we talking here?

If Pacquiao's lightweight stopover included a late 90's Mosley instead of David Diaz, I'd be going with Mosley.

Mosley had no championship fights at 140, so that eliminates a fight at that weight.

I'd go with an early 2000's Mosley over Pacquiao of today.

    agreed here.

I think guys need to dig up copies of Shane's lightweight fights and review his speed, accuracy and punching volume. I see Pac having all kinds of issues with Shane's speed and aggression.

Even the most ardent hater Sly, who called Shane a 'speedy slugger", would agree that version of Mosley is a bad recipe for Manny.

I agree again on Duran. The Duran-Hearns fight was partly about Duran being above his best weight and in part a stylistic issue.

I'm also speaking about the best welter versions of both (Manny and Shane)

It does indeed make for a great fight, i just think Pacquiao is a smarter and better boxer. Mosley has a few physical advantages but nothing stylewise that provides a pure 'antidote' to Pacquiao.

I agree about Shane vs the "stop over" version of Pacman @ 135. Mosley probably wins that fight but it's also close.

We'll have to see what happens when they actually step in the ring. Obviously Pacquiao should win big. I just don't follow the belief that if Shane has any success whatsoever you can just replace that version with a prime one and just make the quantum leap of logic that he simply would have followed up on that success and won for sure.

    Not a chance.

I've always been a big fan of Mosley, but the truth is he's only really looked like a great fighter in ONE fight, and that's against a pretty much prime Oscar in their first fight.

He seems to be getting somewhat overrated. In almost all other fights against elite opposition (including to some extent the Oscar rematch), he's come up short.

I would take Manny over any version of Shane without hesitation.

I actually think early welterweight Shane is better than lightweight Shane by the way. I think he was fairly drained at lightweight, because he actually looked QUICKER in his early welterweight days, and more explosive/powerful.

The 135+ Manny would beat any version of Shane.

I think the board knows you'd take Pacquiao over just about any version of any fighter in any weight class he's so much as looked at.

    That's not true.

I would take Duran over Pacquiao at 135.

I would take Leonard AND Duran at 147, well if it was the same Duran that fought Palomino and Leonard 1, before he became complacent.

The thing is, that's the league of fighter I believe Pacquiao is, and has proved to be. I think he's one of the best ever.

    Quite simply, Mosley isn't.

Again, I really like Mosley, always loved watching him, but I don't think he's ever been quite in the same league as someone like Pacquiao, or Floyd for that matter.

By the way, I confidently picked Oscar over Manny, and also picked Hatton and Cotto to give Manny tough fights. He exceeded expectations in all 3 fights. So I'm being made out to be more of a Manny "groupie" than I really am. I've been pretty conservative with Pacquiao picks at higher weights, and he's surprised me almost every time.

As Slice can also verify, I picked Barrera and Morales over Pacquiao.

Shane from the DLH 1 and Diaz fights would beat Pacquiao, imo.

Nah. He gives Pacquiao a fight, through sheer handspeed, toughness, and reach, but he doesn't beat the welterweight Pacquiao. He's just not good enough.

As much as I hate Floyd, Floyd would have also beaten a prime Mosley. Just a better, more versatile, skillful fighter.

I hate talking shit about Mosley because I've been a Mosley supporter for absolutely ages, and prime Mosley was one of my favourite fighters, but facts are facts, he has come up short against every elite fighter he's faced apart from his career best performance against Oscar.

A mix of 2 and 3....Pacquiao is hurt...tap his gloves get hit again and then goes to war with Mosley.....and survives the round and goes on to win the fight.

A prime version of Mosley 135 and 147 would FUCK Pacquiao UP....at both weights...
