I know how it works. A fight like this. Morales should get the decision just out of principle. Can´t stop that old, fat, shot and one eyed legend you should LOSE.

No. If the guy is so bad in the first place that he cannot stop an old, fat, shot and one-eyed legend then you shouldn't be losing to him.

Does anyone here even have the single slightest cognizance of the damage that Erik Morales absorbed in their tonight??? All this bollox about winning the event- that is just company speak for justifying the event, and how this sham became a HBO main event.

If it wasn't for Erik's eye, his increased accuracy and ability to see punches would have got him the clear win.

How did he get that eye? Same way Vitali got his. END OF STORY, right?

Now, I know Max went to work on you early with some BS about a thumb, but a left uppercut closed his eye.

EVERYONE here thought this fight was a sham. That still doesn't mean Morales didn't deserve to win after giving more than anyone thought he had left.

No. You don't deserve to win because you did better than people thought you would. Thats sentimental horseshit. Maidana fought dumb and got bum advice from his corner and apart from one 5 second period in the 5th, it was Morales who spent more of the fight bent double or backed up.

Maidana is going home. Erik is going to hospital.

Yep, a clean left uppercut closed the eye.

If not for that, clear win for Erik.

I had it a draw. Roth is a known crook and byrd I will give her the benefit of the doubt and just say she's incompetant. 2 bad cards. Maidana was greatly aided by the dozen wars morales had that lended to his eye swelling closed immediately

    No. :pathetic:

He did not deserve the decision here in the first place.

The reserves of energy and resolve he has accumulated through the years of absence and recuperation were all used up tonight, in addition to the incurring of some extra facial damage.

Maidana may actually train for the rematch.

Erik loses big. Dont allow the subjective commentary of an agenda-laden commentary team trick you here.

This might be all true. Morales also got the benefit of being allowed to fight on for 12 full rounds, one-eyed, in a non-title affair- thats more than others have gotten.

Eriks eye swelling closed had as much to do with his being hit by the single hardest blunt-force hitter he has ever faced.

You know hes going no where. It's amazing that he could go 12 hard rounds with a young killer like he just did.

This "young killer" lost to Khan, showed no jab tonight, was half-fit and closed the distance by leaping in and then throwing wide shots.

Maidana fought as badly as he could have tonight. Erik is still going to hospital.

One of the best fghts Ive ever been to. I had Maidana winning 7 rounds to 5. Great great fight. The most telling thing is that Erik Morales had hs legs back. Legs that were not there after the Raheem fight.

Maidana is a useless punk,.. and I don't regard this as a miracle comeback for Morales,.. I regard it as how much more hype can Maidana recieve for no real reason.

Nice to see you swallowed a bit when you said he 'lost to Khan' .. I know it couldn't have been easy, but it'll do you good, it'll do you lad.

Morales won the 2nd round. What a legend. What a HBO card. Oh what a night. Oh what a right hand from Morales. Did it land? No, well what a right hand anyways?

Lampley: "Hey Max, how big of a pair of douches do we sound talking up 140 and 147 now?"

Kellerman: "How. Do. You. Mean. Jim"

Lampley: "Well Maidana destroyed Ortiz. He is a #3 Welter. And he nearly KO'd Khan, the #1 Light Welter. And here he is being DESTROYED by Morales. Didn't Morales even have less difficulty with that little guy who nearly stopped Khan, Willie Limond. In what perspective does this now place the 140lb and 147lb divisions."

Kellerman: "Well, when you talk as much as we do, it is inevitable that we talk ourselves in the river eventually, Jim"

Lampley: "Wow Morales just took two massive hooks downstairs and is bent over"

Kellerman: "I gave that round to Morales, Jim".

    Maidana lost "officially"....

When you think about it...the same people told me to cool it over Maidana are the same ones in there trying to talk up Morales.

Khan had Maidana fighting desperately, deducted points, low, etc.

    Did Morales? Nope.

He buzzed him in the 5th. Thats IT. Even then, it lasted all of 5 seconds....Maidana was actually clear-headed enough to spin Morales and force Tony Weeks to step in.

Maidana got buzzed because his corner started to tell him to throw more shots, allowing a naturally better boxer and better pug to time him down the straight.

Maidanas natural tendency towards being buzzed and his half-fit, wide open style, flurrying under instructions, gave Morales an entry into the fight he never should have had.

When it was all said and done....Maidana would run away, with a dumb look on his face, get his wind back, and then start landing some better shots.

Kellerman would be babbling on about "Power Jabs" as Maidana's off-balance ass would go skipping across the ring, hoping to get a few seconds rest so he could charge back in again like a young bull being tormented by an aged but experienced matador.

But thats all it was. It wasn't Cotto vs Torres, but to listen to Max and Lampley, you would have thought Morales was busting him up with power shots in there.

Erik lost the fight. I don't care about sentimentality. You can't win a fight on that shit alone. Big losers tonight were the two divisions. It was only half-a-Chino in there tonight but the fact that this guy made Ortiz quit and bashed Khan down the stretch, says a lot about those divisions.

Not to worry, Uncle Jim and Cousin Max were there to make sure not too many people got to thinking in them terms.
