Further evidence that Adamek would contend in any era.

Adamek beat Mcbride, who beat Tyson, who beat Holmes, who beat Ali. I'm not kidding, Adamek is a top 3 fighter in any era.

Well Morales beat Maidana who beat Khan who....beat Kotelnik who beat Alexander who beat Urango who..........Oh dear.

    140 is shit.

    147 is shit.

Live with it. Breathe it in. And if it ever gets too much for you, just rattle off a few lines about "dem big Russians", it should get heads nodding, like people standing in front of a wall in down-town Jerusalem.

Heads-Nodding in bovine agreement, dem big Russians, mobsters, mob-guys, like a Spike Lee caricature, sipping tea and knocking back sugar-cubes, who the fuck do these people think they are? WE BUILT THIS FUCKING COUNTRY UP. GO BACK TO RUSSIA OR MY SCAR-FACED FRIEND AND HIS BROTHERLESS ASSISTANT WILL SAY RUDE THINGS AND UTTER FALSEHOODS AGAINST YOU

    This is the new criterion!!!

    "FUN"...its a "FUN" division.

Sort of like the WWF or WCW.....you just suspend the reality, and have a laugh kind of way.

I can dig it. I can dig it.

    FUN. Its the new GOOD.

Adamek going 12 with McBride was expected. Adamek can't punch to save his life. The only way it wasn't going 12 was if McBride gassed which he surprisingly didn't which is the biggest surprise of that fight.

I reckoned Kevin would just get slow and quit. He didn't. It seems this is a greater cause of concern than not. No win situation. So be it.

    Adamek started off at 175.

I agree with Jake- as long as he is at heavyweight, he gets judged as a heavyweight, but it seems unreasonable to strictly extend that logic to something Adamek cannot fairly be expected to influence, namely the laws of physics.

Adamek probably deserves criticism for not lighting McBride up and busting his face, but he cannot be blamed for not laying the guy out.

Kirkland, simply because I hadn't heard of his opponent. Reading some comments of those who did see him previously, they weren't surprised that he iced James.

It's not because of Kirkland, it's just that you would think that they would match him up with soft touches until he could make some decent money. Instead he gets punked for a nominal price.

In order from most to least shocking...

    1) Kirkland getting KO'd in one - a knockout loss was inevitable, but I'll gladly shake the hand of the person who saw it coming on Saturday. I can't even say that it makes sense in retrospect.

    2) Lemieux getting KO'd by Rubio - another situation where a knockout loss was inevitable involving a ridiculously overhyped prospect. But Rubio's chin surviving the onslaught long enough to take care of business? Given his recent run, the outcome makes a little more sense now than it did on Friday. Still, just wasn't supposed to happen on paper.

    3) Morales going 12 and losing a close decision - That he went all balls and lasted 12 isn't very shocking, even if everyone predicted a Maidana knockout (mine based mainly on Morales being too brave for his own good at this stage of his career). That he came within inches of pulling off the upset is mind-blowing. It's the best he's looked in years, at least since the Diaz fight though perhaps looked even better (and certainly finished much stronger).

    4) Adamek-McBride going all 12 - of the four listed, this is the only outcome I actually saw coming a mile away. Adamek's HVY career has been a huge disappointment, save for the win over Arreola. I can see pursuing the cashout against Klitschko - but he could've just as easily done so while still campaigning at cruiserweight, with the occasional tune-up. He's a Top 5 HVY only by default, and his "run" will violently end in September.

I thought Ishida would win, just didn't see a KO in 1 round coming.

Anyway Morales going 12 rounds is definately the most shocking to me. Especially with the condition of his eye in the first round.

I agree with everything you said about Adamek´s heavyweight career, but still, how you can predict McBride to last twelve rounds is beyond me. In his prime, 10 years younger and 50 pounds lighter McBride has been routinely stopped by journeyman and pillow fisted heavyweights (weighing the same as Adamek now). McBride has never in his life lasted twelve rounds. I know the bookmakers made a killing on that fight, because the KO Adamek/under was bet like crazy. So kudos if you saw that coming, which is even stronger than saying least surprising of the four events.

It's only through 'modern chemistry' that Adamek has a career at heavyweight it should be noted.

I learned from the Michael Grant fight - which I will gladly admit that I DID NOT see it coming that it would go all 12.

Adamek is quicker than most heavyweights, but just doesn't have any power whatsoever at the weight (though don't tell that to Vinny Mad-Alone-Happy-Together). Plus with a Klitschko fight looming, there was no way in hell that he would push for something that wasn't there.

I knew that McBride wouldn't come just to lie down, but at the same time wasn't hard to predict that going all 12 would be his only shot at a moral victory.

kirkland was a KTFO waiting to happen. i was most surprised by morales' performance vs. maidana and also, maidana's vulnerability and inconsistent stamina.

Morales/Maidana was the only one that didn't surprise me at all.
