For the die hards again, here's what we've got tomorrow night in Bellator on MTV 2. The card was supposed to feature a special attraction bout between Bellator HW Champion Cole Konrad and UFC vet Paul Buentello. But Buentello had to back out due to injury so Konrad was pulled from the card as well. So now the card is highlighted by the Light Heavy Tournament Semifinal bouts. The winners will fight to determine the 1st Bellator LH Champ. Main Card Light Heavyweight Semifinal bout: Richard Hale vs. D.J. Bellator 42: Light Heavyweight Tournament Semifinals Concho, Oklahoma— The Bellator Fighting Championships moved one step closer to crowning their inaugural Light Heavyweight Champion on Saturday night. Both semifinal bouts in their first 205 pound tournament were contested. In the first semifinal match, Christian M’Pumbu from the Congo and now fighting out of France, scored a TKO stoppage over Tim Carpenter. M’Pumbu landed a huge straight right hand that stunned Carpenter mid way through the first round. He immediately followed with a crisp right uppercut that dropped and finished his opponent. Carpenter, who is from the U.S. and a Jiu-Jitsu black belt, suffered his first loss in 7 pro fights. In the other semifinal bout 25-year-old Rich Hale used his height and reach advantage to gut out a split decision victory over D.J. Linderman. Hale, who stands 6’4″ with a stunning 80.5 inch reach, used effective counter punching over the first two rounds to thwart the steadily attacking Linderman. Round 3 saw Linderman change tactics as he immediately clinched with Hale and tried to get the fight to the ground. The strategy backfired as Linderman ended up on his back mounted by Hale. The remainder of the round was spent with Linderman fighting off multiple rear-naked choke attempts from Hale. After the event, Bellator announced the 205 pound final would be held at Bellator 45 on May 21, 2011 at the L’Auberge du Lac Casino in Lake Charles, La.
