It would be almost as bad as Tszyu vs shot Chavez. Morales has a little bit more left in the tank but he's still not a great defensive fighter and would get drilled.
Maidana ain't a patch on even an old Tszyu (who I regard as badly overrated), and i thought Maidana won that fight allot more easily than HBO and the boxing public wanted to acknowledge. So basically....Morales has pretty much no chance. He doesn't have a chance against any other top 140lber night now either. Too small, too weak, to old.
Tszyu is overrated, but even the older/inactive version that lost to Hatton is a million times better than Maidana.
I want to see UGO and Mex go at it on this one, a battle of opposite-but-equally-irrational extremes.
I like arguing, but really, I wouldn't stoop so low as to argue about Morales Vs scrubby arse Tszyu. It's a joke argument. Morales is so much better it's almost like arguing who's better, Roy Jones or Kermit Cintron?
Except the question isn't who's better, it's who would win & Tszyu's 3/4 divisions bigger (and allot less shot, here).
Theres a reason Tszyu was an unbackable favourite against Hatton. Ageing, yes, but not shot by any means. How formidable he was then has been downplayed in retrospect and that aint right. Hed have absolutely decapitated any version of Morales.
HBO would buy this fight on the basis that they "see" something in it. Tszyu KO4 Erik. Maidana is the sort of fighter that Tszyu would have eaten up. He's not even a poor mans MAG.
Diaz is quicker on his feet then an old Morales and wouldn't give Tszyu as much room to work but he'd still get flattened at some point. Tszyu by KO some time after round 6.
Imagine the Tszyu that fought Hatton standing in with a one-eyed Morales.....it's scary. The man was a master of what he referred to as "artistic execution" and he would have drilled a half-blind Morales with clean, straight powershots and then broken him down to the body.
Morales would leave the ring with Tszyu's rat tail between his teeth and he would probably expose it in his living room, above the fireplace.
Exactly. New question: If Tszyu had "Fair can be had, for a firm pay" Cortez in his pocket like Floyd would Hatton have won the fight?
I think a better question is, if Hatton hadn't had a ref who allowed him to blatantly cheat against Tszyu, would he have won the fight?
