Just checked boxrec. This fight is scheduled on there and is set for september 17th, same night as cotto v margarito 2.

Can anyone confirm this 100%. Is this fight on, or are they negotiating? I am excited at the prospect of these two meeting, will be a great fight.

I don't give Ortiz much of a chance. Even when he had Berto up against the ropes he was having a hard time landing clean shots. Floyd will slip just about everything he throws. It's still an interesting fight but i'm dissapointed by the date more than anything else.

If it's Sept 17th it's a lock he won't fight Manny this year. (not that i expected it to happen but this would seal it)

He's never going to fight Manny. It's sad, & no one wants to accept it, but c'mon...

If mayweather/ortiz is 100%, floyd/pac will never happen. Pac will surely retire next year.

I'm sure a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight circa-2020, would be just as engrossing as that rematch, too.

I'm not fond of accepting it either, believe me. It's nothing short of tragic, especially when the sport is crying out for this. Oddly enough, I actually dreamed of Boxing last night (can't ever remember that happening). The Klitschkos' finally got in the ring, & I was embarrassed to see Wlad get KO'd in round 2 (I have spent years calling him the superior brother, & labelling Vitali as increasingly over-rated). Heard Jim Lampley shouting, "Now whenever Wlad's name comes up amongst the greats, you just can never trust him with that chin!"

Wrong prediction even in a dream. That's disheartening

if pacquiao were truly set on getting the mega payday of his career he'd get away from arum like mayweather jr did to face delahoya.

I don't give Ortiz a realistic chance, but I stand by what I said, he's a tougher fight than Cotto.

He'll bring it with more reckless abandon than Cotto, that combined with being somewhat unpredictable makes him a tougher fight than the overly patient, methodical Cotto.

Leave your promoter......build yourself up into a ppv star.....take special drug test....build up your fanbase........be undefeated like me.....etc...etc...Mayweather always has an excuse when he doesn't want to fight an opponent.

Ortiz is an incredibly easy fight for Mayweather, probably the easiest fight since Baldomir.

Ortiz will use his head on Floyd and get a forearm straight back into his pedding neck.

Its interesting that Floyd is not demanding blood tests for this one.

You should know by now Floyd doesn't get an ounce of credit on here for doing anything.

Maybe it's because he DOESN'T do anything. I mean, we don't hear from the guy for months, and then we're supposed to be excited because he's coming back to face a guy who would be an underdog against Amir Khan? Then he'll head off into the shadows for another fucking year before coming back against Matthew Hatton. It's a joke, just make the fight we all wanna fucking see

He's too old and inactive to fight Manny now. He probably missed his window of opportunity.

    hahaha!

Truth is it's likely that Vitali KOs him if they were to ever fight. Although Wlad is the better fighter.

Last I checked Ortiz didn't move up from flyweight to Welterweight and maintain his speed, stamina, increase chin and P4P power....

Last time I heard me lost to a guy that you all tried to tell me lost to a guy who already lost 2 out of 3 to Manny Pac.

After Ortiz's last fight he wouldn't be an underdog against Khan at 147. He just beat a top 5 fighter at 147.

You mean like he tried to do when Oscar gave him the 400 large under the table a few years back? Golden Boy still gets paid for Manny's fights.

You're basically saying he needs to leave Arum and join Golden Boy.

Floyd could leave Golden Boy and go back to Top Rank.

    Works both ways.

Does this remind anyone of the Baldomir fight? Baldomir was brought in to lose to Judah, but ends up putting up the fight of his life and winning as a huge underdog. Ortiz was brought in to lose to Berto and was a big underdog. This is Baldomir all over again.

    Mayweather is an opportunistic BITCH.....

had that been Margarito, Cotto, Paul Williams circa 2006-2009 who beat the shit out of ANDRE BERTO...he would STILL NOT fight THEM....

they need to get a bigger fanbase, he needs to be a PPV superstar, he needs to leave his promoter, etc...etc...!!!

Victor Ortiz is easy pickins....Mayweather knows it...his groupies know it..they just want to build Victor UP.....
