Mayweather should beat him easily; however, playing devil's advocate... Mayweather hasn't fought a young, determined, hungry, strong fighter since when? Would you include Hatton? If so, that's 2008...nearly three years ago. Floyd is nearly 10 years older than Ortiz and by the time September rolls around he would have had three fights in three years. No matter what kind of shape he's kept himself in there's bound to be slippage. On the other hand... The way Ortiz squares up and falls in after throwing his straight left he's cannon fodder for Floyd's counter right. The Berto fight could help Ortiz in a way...he's already dealt with a similar style...granted...Berto isn't a fraction of the fighter Floyd is but I think if Victor is mentally right...and you KNOW Floyd will talk enough shit to keep him angry and focused....it could be a better fight than we think. I don't give Victor a real shot at beating Floyd but I think he makes it damn interesting as long as it lasts.
I think the interesting parts would probably be only the first 3 rounds. After Floyd adjusts it's one sided. Ortiz's corner needs to address some of the mistakes you noted for him to have any chance. I don't think the layoff will be as much of an issue as some are making it out to be. Mayweather is one of those few guys that doesn't seem to lose a step by being out of the ring.
At least Baldomir was the champion. Still, I think Ortiz is more interesting. At the very least, he might have the offensive talent to make the first couple of rounds fun.
Who? Baldomir to Ortiz? Baldomirs danger was his staying-power and toughness. Ironically, you can be Sugar Ray Ali Bruce Lee in the talent stakes, but if you have the mental power of Judah, you ain't beating Floyd.
Based on what? Not taking the piss by the way, I just don't see it and I'm genuinely intrigued as to why you'd think that
Trolling a bit....or....trying to hype up Victor Ortiz...so when Mayweather pounds him...he can overhype the fight as some big accomplishment.
because mayweather jr was nearly knocked out by a slower, weaker fighter in his last bout. a guy who cant really even pull the trigger anymore. because mayweather jr is a year older and hasnt been in the gym much in that time. because ortiz is the best offensive fighter mayweather jr has fought in quite a while, and will be the bigger, stronger guy in the ring if they fight. ortiz is a southpaw, and has managed to land his best punches on every opponent he's fought so i dont see why he wont be able to do so against mayweather jr. because mayweather jr isnt really concerned with boxing any longer and doesnt even have the desire to do it.
Naturally that could change anything can, i'm just saying based upon the evidence we've already seen. So far we have no reason to believe otherwise.
That's exactly how I see it. I don't give Victor a realistic chance, he's just not good enough, but his youth/energy and gung ho attitude in the ring should at least make it somewhat interesting for a while. And whiskey, as ridiculous as it sounds, against someone as schooled and experienced as Mayweather, Victor's youth and inexperience might actually serve him well. If he was more experienced he might be more composed in the ring, but perhaps think too much too. That's not good against Floyd, it gives him time to pot shot. His gung ho attitude and unpredictability might serve him well. Or maybe not, who knows :kidcool: I was impressed by Victor against Berto, he reminded me why I thought he was the best up and coming fighter in boxing before Maidana. However, thinking about it, it's weird he didn't get Berto out of there. He looks/seems like a very good offensive fighter, but he actually can't be that good, because he can't stop people. Maidana, Peterdude and Berto, he should have stopped all 3, but couldn't even stop one of them. And Berto looked so fucking scrubby in that fight, and was just asking to be taken out early to mid rounds.
Ah you're thinking of Ezekiel Brook. Narrrrr man, wrong weight class, wrong fighter and wrong city. Am talking about Chunky DeGale, QPR legend and boxer extraordinaire.
Kell is Ezekiel. I'm not a huge fan of Brook, he's pretty good but he's one of those guys who will do really well against certain styles and bad against others
Floyd wants Manny to fight other guys and add more wear-and-tear to his body before he faces him. Arum wants Manny to fight other guys so he can milk him and make a lot of money against relatively easy opponents before he faces Floyd. Manny doesn't care. That's my story/theory and I'm sticking to it.
Yep, I think that's about the gist of it. Unlike Floyd who - despite slowing down - is as good as ever, because he relies 75% on skill, Pacquiao is more like Roy. Pacquiao is highly skilled no question, but he relies 75% on freakish natural ability and fighting instinct.
What an absolute load of shite. Even for you, this is serious ballsacking of the very highest order. MTF :shit: :shit:
What the fuck does this have to do with anything? They already fought and Ortiz QUIT after he got bounced around like a basketball. There is no need to speculate here: the fight already took place and Ortiz got FUCKED. Why is half a dozen pounds going to make any difference? MTF :dunno;
Because Ortiz was drained, man, he was drained. He was obviously drained. Once he moved up, all his power came back and besides, Maidana needs to stay at 140, or Ortiz will kick his ass....:nono: ::
As well he should be. This. I agree, I wouldn't be totally shocked to see it happen because I've always thought Floyd was a bit chinny and his reflexes aren't going to last him forever, he's going to get hit more and more as he ages and it's probably just a matter of time before he gets stopped by one shot.
