JDS was a Pretty DANGEROUS "Comeback" Fight for Brock, Considering the MANNER in Which he Lost to Cain...This Could End Up Being a BLESSING in Disguise...Maybe Roy Nelson UPSETS Mir???...He'd B a Credible yet SAFER "Comeback" Opponent for Brock... REED:mj:
would you consider that an upset? i wouldnt be surprised to see nelson beat mir honestly, nelson is a tough dude, has power and has a good ground game and didnt he tap out mir in a bjj tournament or something?
Yes he beat Mir in Black belt submission tourney called Grappler's Quest if I remember right. I will take Nelson over Mir.
Actually a pretty good match. But damn, Nelson is tiny. It looks like the current version of Roy ate this version. And it's sad, but Mir ran out of steam and almost gave up. By the way, Nelson won on points. <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VPTgegc19lY" allowfullscreen="" width="425" frameborder="0" height="349"></iframe>
Mir's BJJ has always been a disappointment. That was a fun match, but Mir only had control once. Even on the bottom, Roy was never in danger. For a BJJ guy, Mir has always been uncomfortable on his back. thanks for this video TRP. I havent seen it in years.
Man, I might be completely wrong but I think Carwin is a tougher opponent for JDS than Lesnar. I am glad Carwin was available. By the way, the luckiest man in the world is Jon Olav Einemo. He was supposed to fight Carwin in his UFC debut on the same card (UFC 131). Now he gets Dave Herman instead.
His entire career has been a disappointment in my opinion. This is a guy that had the size and skill set to be a very good HW for a long time. I know the motorcycle accident is where alot of people point, but I still remember his bout with Ian Freeman where it looked to me like he gave up. That was long before the accident. If Nelson can push Mir into deep water, Frank will fold.
yeah i just dont know for me if it qualifies as an upset, its not like a see nelson as a big underdog really, ill be picking nelson actually, the dude is tough as shit, doesnt give up and i think mir is just mentally weak should be a good scrap though i think, most of nelsons fights thus far have been
It wouldn't be much of an upset. In fact, from a betting standpoint, Mir will probably only go off at -120. Hardly a big favorite.
i know very little about gambling but i take it that means if you bet 100 on nelson and he wins you get 120? prolly a decent investment, could make some money since nelson has a good shot at winning
Explain this to me. When I break this fight down, I don't see a clear area of advantage for Mir. I think their stand-up is about even, but I'd lean toward Nelson because of his better chin. On the ground I think they are dead even but I may give Mir the edge on his back. But Nelson's top control is better. From a pure wrestling stand point, I don't think there is much of a difference either way. And Nelson definitely wins in the heart and stamina department. You might find this hard to believe, but Mir rarely ever goes the distance. Meanwhile, Nelson seems to have better cardio than expected from a fat fuck.
Mir has much better striking. Nelson's stand up is poor, he has a big right hand and that's it, he won't be able to negotiate the range that Mir uses from his height and reach and his rangy style from his Kempo Karate background.
