Too expensive to go now, will wait for DVD. There isn't any movie I really want to see on opening weekend. Last one was Battle:LA.

Depends on the type of movie it is. Action movies that interest me, I prefer seeing in the theater since you lose a lot more watching it at home.

Most other movies I just watch at home.

When i was kid loved going to the theatre, now i typically avoid it. I have reasonably nice home theatre setup so even action movies where you want great sound come across great. No need to see them in the theatre, and there's no movie i get that exciting about that i can't wait for.

Afer all these years, I still find a kind of magic in going to the cinemas.

scary movies and huge pop corn action can be seen in the movies. But movies that require you to think, i watch at home. So i can rewatch right away if need be.

I used to be addicted to going to the cinema, 2-3 times a month, maybe more when i had the cash, but these days i don't bother, i rather wait for the dvd.
Can't think of the last film i saw at the cinema. May have been harry potter.

DVD.....every now and then I would go watch something at theaters..usually things I CANNOT wait for to come on on DVD....Predators and A Nightmare On Elm Street.....I took the lady to see Inception(assholes who say it soo simple and easy to understand i figure it out immediately fuckk off!!!!) and like Godfather said if the movie requires you to think i rather wait for the dvd....one day she was feeling down so to cheer her up and have her take her problems out of her mind for a few hours we went to see Little Fockers....:bangh:...she came out feeling worst...

ANYWAY....DVD...DVD....DVD.....I went to see Battle LA..but the fucking theater was closed that day..for some crazy ass reason...

I'd rather see something in the cinema, but i rarely bother. I usually end up seeing most films i fancy about 3, 4 years later on dvd.

(and even then it usually takes me about 3 months to watch it once ive bought it. I enjoy watching movies, but committing to sit down and do anything for 150 minutes or whatever usually feels like a slightly too big one at the time).

The only film i made an effort to see in the cinema (and was glad i did) was that cloverfield film. Dumb popcorn stuff, but a film that really worked with a huge screen, booming sound, etc. Fun. I've never watched it on dvd, but i imagine it would be just atrocious.

It's Tooooo EXPENSIVE to Go to the Cinema These Days...$10 a Piece @ the Door...$5 for Popcorn, Pizza or Hotdogs...$4 for Soft Drinks or Candy...

Being a FATHER, REED's Been to the Cinema LESS than 10 Times in the Last 10 Years...Probably LESS than 5...Babies CRY in Movie Theatres, then ,when they're Old Enough to Stop Crying, U've Got to PAY to Get them In...

I don't worry about the expense...

A new highly anticipated film MUST be seen on the big screen with a packed auditorium...as has to be seen the moment it comes out.

But that's just me of course...

Most packed auditorium Ive ever been in was by far The Dark Knight. Saw it with my ex, and we were not only fortunate enough to be one of the first ones to enter the theatre.... but due to connections I had at the time... I didnt pay either.

BEST atomsphere for a movie was probably last year.... Inception. Not only cause it was packed, but because I saw it in IMAX.

Nothing beats the (in movie) atmosphere of Rocky IV. People were cheering and shouting like we were in a real fight.

Best pre-movie cinematic atmosphere though was undoubtedly "Star Wars Episode 1, The Phantom Menace". There'll NEVER be another movie as eagerly anticipated as that!

REED Experienced that Sensation Watching "Rocky II" In the Theatre...When Rocky & Apollo Knocked Each Other Down, People were YELLING to the Screen, "Get Up, Rocky!!!", MOTIONING w/their Hands, etc...& When Rocky Finally BEAT the Count to Win the Title, People Clapped, Stood Out of their Seats, High-Fived, All of that...

Like U Said, the Audience Behaved as if it were a REAL Fight...

Word. When I first saw Rocky 2, that scene was INTENSE. I was screaming too!

But Rocky IV...when Rocky first cut Drago toward the end of round 2, people went MAD!!!!!!!!! I remember the comentator saying, "The Russian's cut, he's cut and it's a bad cut..and now it's Rocky going after Drago!"
Dude..."mans" in the auditorium were on their feet!!!!!!!

i would have to agree with the sentiment that if it is a highly anticipated film then I will go see it and prefer to see it for the first time in the theatre. But only the upper echelon movies qualify, there are loads of movies I wanted to see but have waited for their dvd release. It's not worth the hassle + disappointment otherwise.

Obviously the 3D and gimmick movies are best to see in the theatre... if you want that effect

Another reason I miss America --- everything is cheaper. You won't get inside a Cinema in Sydney for under $20. Forget it.

Started watching it on CINEMAX...as I awaited King vs. The Son of God fight on Showtitime......

Anyway.....HORRIBLE MOVIE...The first 40-60 minutes are watchable...but after Morpheus makes his appearance it goes down hill fast...other than getting the Predator help...that part was decent..

I am in Canberra right now, was going to go see Thor last night just to pass some time, but they were charging 37 Australian dollars which is about 40 American dollars for one ticket! Apparently because they have leather seats they consider themselves a "premiere" theater. WTF?

Even if I go to the matinée I will be paying well over $25. Ridiculous.
