http://www.cagepotato.com/jon-jones-and-rashad-evans-nearly-came-to-blows-in-a-vegas-club-this-week/ It's not ova yet gents...:: EDIT: By the way, a little backstory, apparently Jones isn't having surgery afterall and Rashad is pissed and accusing Jones of ducking him.
....add 25k to Rashad's checking acct for the above tweet. Now knowing of the financial incentive, I take all twitterbeefs to be lacking of sincerity, legitimacy and passion.
Okay, TLC, we all know you don't like Jones. Enough said. But after watching him absolutely manhandle and stop Shogun, do you really think he is "afraid" of Evans and ducking him? This guy has taken every fight he has been given and ran through it like a Mack truck. Something tells me Jones doesn't give a flying fuck about Rashad Evans. Gold Glover is right as well. these so called "twitterbeefs" are weak to say the least.
Doesnt a twitter beef mean that the beef is only on Twitter? When you almost fight in a bar, move your camp, that is real beef.
pulled this off Sherdog's homepage The injury that forced UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to withdraw from his first title defense at UFC 133 will not require surgery, contradicting earlier diagnoses. Jones' manager, Malki Kawa, tweeted the news on Friday. “I guess it’s time to put out the truth. [Jones] suffered a tear in his thumb in two different spots. Every [doctor] he saw said to have surgery,†wrote Kawa. “We went to meet with the surgeon on Wednesday and after he looked at [Jones], he thought that surgery was a bit [invasive] and 'Bones' didn't have to have [it] if he didn't want to.†According to Kawa, Jones decided that surgery was not his desired course of action. Instead, “Bones†and his manager met with UFC executives Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta the following day to schedule Jones’ next bout. However, the man Jones was originally supposed to face has already begun to question the validity of the injury that led to Jones’ withdrawal from their planned August clash, as Rashad Evans took to Twitter to address the champ's situation. “Question: If you were so confident, then why fake a thumb injury?†Evans wrote. “[Because] just between me and y'all, he don't need surgery!†Kawa asserts that Jones followed the proper procedure in receiving multiple medical opinions in cooperation with the UFC. “For the record, every doctor [Jones] saw was a UFC-referred doctor,†Kawa wrote. “The very last one on the day before surgery thought against it.†Regarding Jones' return to the cage, nothing has been announced as of yet. However, Kawa asserted that the champion will be medically cleared to fight after June 11 and could make his return by the end of the year.
Personally, I think the UFC needs to push a tweeter beef between Rashad and Phil Davis to sell UFC 133. That's a crap main event. The UFC won't have a problem selling any bout involving Jon Jones. He's one of the most popular fighters in the UFC.
It won't be Main Event. They are probably going to throw Edgar vs Maynard and Aldo vs Mendes. I should really get tickets, this card could be Godly. Edgar vs Maynard Aldo vs Mendes Phil Davis vs Evans Belfort vs Akiyama Antonio Rogerio Nogueria vs Rich Franklin Spike Prelim ----------- Mike Pierce vs Johny Hendricks Gustaffson vs Matyushenko
If this card goes to being headlined by those 2 title fights, it's an amazing card. The other bouts are all good match ups.
Or an interview or just about anything. who gives a fuck. People want to know what is going on. Twitter gives people instant knowledge.
And instant knowledge is the way of the digital era - and it's all good. But PAYING your fighters to tweet seems like an effort to contrive mythical beefs, matchups, grudges, etc. all for an extra paycheck. I think the idea is a bad one. Disagree if you like. And for the record, Jon Jones could have his hand amputated today and STILL smash Rashad on Thursday......:hump:
Or it could be a way to bring more attention to MMA. For the record, Rashad has been tweeting since before Dana paid them for it.
It is really bad. I also can't believe that some posters here couldn't except the idea that the UFC encourages trash talk for pre-fight interviews. Sure, they aren't telling them what to say, but they shouldn't tell them to do anything of that nature to begin with.
Why not? The UFC and the fighters are in the business of getting people to pay to watch them fight. Why shouldn't they be involved with creating buzz around a particular match up? And you missed the point. Posters on here don't have a problem "accepting" the idea that the UFC encourages trash talk. Some of us just think it's another example of great promoting by the UFC and not some huge negative practice.
