Vitaly/Lennox-it was the only one that I saw live. I was following the sports center ticker at work during Holyfield/Tyson 1 and even that was amazing. I won't forget reading the TKO result.

Personally I think Tua/Ike is overrated. It had no drama whatsoever . It was just two guys standing in front of one another and exchanging shots. Problem was that they both could take the other's best shot so it was kinda boring.

Bowe / Holyfield 1 Fantastic fight in every way, one of the best of the division history
Vitaly/Lennox Exciting and fun, with disappointing ending
Bowe/Golota Bit too one-sided but tremendous war
    -------
Holyfield/ Tyson 1 Solid fight with plenty of clinching and butting
Foreman / Lyle I have watched this perhaps twice. Once you know the winner, there is little to see
Tua/Ibeabuchi Same as Foreman-Lyle but without the drama. Both guys just close their eyes and slap away, not much to rewatch here

Never, ever understood the hype around Ibeabuchi-Tua. I didn't catch it live, & was utterly underwhelmed after all the hype.

Bowe-Golota II was a more exciting fight than the first one.

Live, perhaps, but not on replay value. I'd say Bowe - Golota

Agreed. It's largely Tua putting out patty feeler punchers and Ike fighting like an idiot on the inside. It's a good fight, not a great one.

Bowe-Holyfield is definitely the best on the list.

Bowe/Holyfield 1 - Whether it's anticipation, significance or just the fight itself, it's Bowe-Holy I ... and then everything else, as far as this list is concerned. Not just the two best heavyweights in the world at the time, but both undefeated and in their respective primes (Holy on the tail end, Bowe just entering his). A rare heavyweight EVENT where the action matched the hype.

(additional space for emphasis on separation between #1 and rest of the field)

    Bowe/Golota 2
    - Almost gave the nod to Lewis-Vitali for its greater significance, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a more savage heavyweight brawl in recent memory. Even as one-sided as it was, there always existed that "anything can happen" factor - and sure enough, anything did.

Lewis/V.Klitschko - Was as great of a torch-passing evening as you can have without the current king actually losing. Klitschko steps up on short notice, anxious for the opportunity to redeem his career and goes balls-to-the-wall for as long as his skin would allow. Fantastic slugfest, even if with an anti-cimactic ending. Lewis goes out with a win and on top, while Vitali rides a wave of momentum (even if the rest didn't quite pan out as expected)

Tua/Ibeabuchi - Just a fun fight. No real significance, other than two rising undefeated heavyweights throwing down for bragging fights. A fight that was emblematic of what Boxing After Dark was once about, even if it's entertainment value and importance has been exaggerated through the years.

Foreman/Lyle - apologies to my father's generation, but quite possibly one of the most overrated fights of all time. I'm sure it was an incredible experience at the time it happened, but in replay comes across as a sloppy slugfest devoid of skill level. Was fun watching the first time I saw it, but once was enough.

Holyfield/Tyson 1 - Anyone with a shred of objectivity will be quick to note that this fight just wasn't very good. A huge event, sure. Incredible upset, no doubt. But in a vacuum - once was enough and with the tail end of the fight the only true "oh shit" moment of the fight. Even the sixth round knockdown was, "Oh... he's down?"

Ibeabuchi/Tua was unimpressive? Wow. I guess Vitaly/Kevin Johnson was a masterpiece

No. A fight where nobody throws at all is a crappy one, but that doesn't mean that a fight where they throw most is the best there can be

Well, I guess you really have to be old enough to remember Foreman-Lyle live to appreciate it.

The 4th round is one of my all time favorite rounds in HW history. You had absolutely no idea how it was going to end up. Foreman looked dead, literally dead, at the end of the 4th.

It is the most 2-sided HW slugfest ever.
