Hopkins of today vs the Hearns of the Dennis Andries fight.

Both about the same height, Hopkins naturally bigger but Hearns would be faster and have more power. Hopkins smarter, tougher with possibly more stamina but would that be enough to beat that Hearns?

I think Hearns gets the decision.

Hearns floors Hopkins early, Bernard spends the remainder of the fight inactive and outboxed ... Easy decision for hearns

I tend to agree, except it wouldn't be "easy" for Hearns.

Now what about the Hopkins who beat Tarver vs the Hearns who beat Hill?

I say Hopkins beats him, probably by late stoppage.

I don't see Hopkins outboxing hearns and I don't see him hitting hard enough to change the fight with one shot

Oh wait, the Hill Hearns... Bernard definitely could win that

You guys are seriously underestimating the ring intelligence of Hopkins. He would take away Tommy's length and leverage by making it a phone booth battle.

And keep in mind the Andries version of Hearns is basically the same one that got crunched by Barkley and wilted against Kinchen. Personally I think Hopkins could pressure Hearns to the point he tires late and gets stopped.

I honestly can't believe Sly said Hopkins MIGHT have more stamina.

Hearns early, Hops late. I think Hearns survives a late rounds rally from Hops to decision him closely, 7-5 in rounds w/ maybe a knockdown for Hearns.

Hopkins at 46 just doesn't have the durability he once had, as recently as three years ago. If he fought Dawson, for example, I think he'd be knocked out for sure.

46 year old vs an early 30s version. OBVIOUSLY any Hopkins under 40 has more stamina than Hearns.

This version of Hopkins???... I think he loses a close decision to Hearns.

Now the Hopkins of the Pavlik fight would rally to stop Hearns late.

I think you guys severely overestimate the current crop of younger professional boxers, and as a consequence of that, you overrate Hopkins' performance against them

Yeah but Tarver at 175lbs is a more formidable opponent than a middleweight/supermiddleweight Iran Barkley (stopped in 1 round by Benn, butchered by Toney and beaten by old smaller Duran), wouldn't you say?

I remember Hopkins dominating Tarver and Hearns getting beat twice by Barkley.

    So what's really being overestimated?

I remember Hearns knocking Dennis Andries down 6 times and pummeling him with ease... I remember the same old, basically shot Thomas Hearns that Iran Barkley DECISIONED (instead of landing the luckiest punch in history) easily outpointing Virgil Hill

Antonio Tarver would not beat Hearns either... He'd eat jabs all night waiting for an opportunity to counter that would never come
