If Pac retired when there was plenty of opposition, makes a comeback when the fighters he avoided were defeated, when he makes stupid blood testing demands, when he fights only once every 1,5 years etc. I wouldn't be a fan of Pac. Would you still be a fan?

If Pac fought an undefeated Corrales at 130, undefeated Hatton at 140, Prime Castillo in his first fight at lightweight, a still very capable Oscar at 154lbs (instead of some catchweight), a Mosley coming off a huge KO victory over Margarito....I would be an even BIGGER Pac fan.

The American networks would not afford him the same respect they do currently afford Floyd.........by rights, Floyds behaviour with the rice and dog comments would have been enough for HBO to shit-can most fighters deals, contracts, good-will etc.

Why would you want to make his resume worse by changing it into Floyd's? Pac's resume is better.

Pac's is stellar! But let's be honest about a few things:

    • Barrera had already been stopped by Junior Jones
    • Morales had already been beaten by Barrera twice
    • Marquez had already lost to Norwood by the first fight and then lost to Chris John before the second fight
    • Oscar Larios had already been stopped in just 3 rounds by Israel Vasquez and that was at 10lbs lighter; his more comfortable weight.
    • Hatton had already been stopped by Mayweather
    • Cotto had already been stopped by Margarito in a recent fight
    • Margarito had already been butchered by Mosley
    • Mosley had been dominated by Floyd recently and looked bad in the fight just prior.
    • Clottey had already lost to Cotto and Margarito
    • De La Hoya was much older, inactive and had to go down drastically in weight

    These are Pac's best wins!!

Mayweather beat an undefeated Corrales, undefeated Hatton, Prime Castillo, an Oscar coming off a butchering of Mayorga at a comfortable weight of 154lbs, a Mosley coming off a butchering of Margarito etc.

Sly, tell me you're kidding about Pac's accomplishments in the lower weights. You can't be THAT biased. You can't deny Pac's greatness after taking on the lower weight's Big Three.

You misunderstood me. Let me clarify:

    1. I have tremendous respect for Pac's achievements. I rate him top 5 all time P4P. So I'm not in any way denying his greatness.
    2. I'm just playing the (Devil's advocate) game with anyone who wants to denigrate what Mayweather has accomplished, such as the suggestion by the Topic starter. If Mayweather can be criticized, so can pac.

no wonder boxing is in such a sorry state when ''fans'' can disreguard a whole career ( when it suit their agenda of course ) for one or two bad losses. Just like little kids, some adults needs a superhuman, who looks dominant and invincible, probably because he's not facing the best. That's why we gets a Mayweather JR has the head of the sport.

YET he avoided Cotto, Margarito, William, Clottey and Cintron....the last two okay skip them...sure no problem.

But how in the world do Mayweather NOT fight Cotto, Margarito or Williams...NOT ONE OF THEM.

Mayweather resume at 130 is good...at 135 he fought the best guy in the division twice..so you can't complain...but after that his competition has been questionable.

Can't blame him for fighting Oscar $$$...and Bumdomir was a BUM and the linear champion so can't blame him for that fight...and Hatton? BIG MONEY fight that generated a lot of interest but IMO a fight vs. Cotto would have generated the same buzz and would have made the same if not more money...

He should have fought those 3 fights...but along the way he should have fought some of the REAL TOP WELTERWEIGHTS.....anyone really think that the WELTERWEIGHTS that Mayweather fought Bumdomir, Judah, Hatton and Mitchell would stand a chance vs. Cotto, Williams or Margarito.??...shit throw in Clottey and Cintron.....

    Hell no !!!

And as an aside, as much as I admire Pacquiao and love watching him fight, and respect him for fighting everyone and ducking nobody, I still can't overlook the catch-weight bull-shit requirements he's made in the past.

As for PBF, his business of retiring in order to avoid fighting contenders is bull-shit. If boxing were a real sport, he'd be made to go to the back of the line after retiring, earn his ranking once again before he gets a big money fight, and only then get a shot at the title. That's how it should be.

I can't wait to see him lose. Even if I have to wait five years, it'll be just as sweet. Because any fight PBF takes, as long as he's undefeated, is any fight he's convinced he will win. So I look forward not only to the brutality of PBF's first loss, but even moreso to the shame and embrassment he will no doubt endure, having actually lost and been made to see that even the most careful of match-making can't protect him from the reality that he's not as good as he thinks and that in this sport, fighters lose.

If you want to play this game:

    1. PBF beat a weight-drained Corrales on his way to prison
    2. PBF lost to Castillo by many accounts
    3. PBG beat Hatton at 147, a weight class where he'd done nothing before or since but nearly lose to Collazo
    4. Oscar's fight against Mayorga occurred more than a year before he faced PBF
    5. Margarito didn't train properly for Mosley and was shaken mentally by the detection of plaster in his gloves

Cotto, Margarito, Williams were waiting on the runway for Maywether to make his money...vs. De La Hoya....but Mayweather decided to board another plane into Ricky Hatton and then self-preservation mode...

Came back once all the competition had moved up or was badly battered.

Most Pac fans would stop being fans if Pac started doing the same shit that Floyd is doing, period. Only die-hard nuthuggers would be still Pacfans. The same is true for Floyd fans. Most defenders of Floyd on messageboards are Flomos.

if pacquiao retired after the rematch with marquez people would say he is a hall of famer who had a great career.

You guys are fucking idiots if that is how you're going to discredit everyone. Yet you fucking suck Floyd's dick for beating Mosley and claim " He was coming off the best win of his career" Never mind the fact that he was off for a damn year and a half before fighting Floyd. And Oscar, when Floyd beat him he had been off for a fucking year too.

JMM is coming off a win against Katsidis.
Margarito was coming off a win.
Cotto was coming off a win over a top 10 WW in Clottey
Hatton was coming off a win over a top 10 jrWW in Paulie

The only guy he's fought coming off a loss recently is Clottey, who lost to Cotto. What a bum.

Gatti was coming off a win over the great Jesse James Leija
Shamba Mitchell was coming off a win over the great Chris Smith
    Zab coming off a LOSS
Baldomir coming off a win over Gatti, try to hype Gatti all you want, good luck.
    Oscar, year long layoff.
Hatton coming off a win over a garbage version of JLC
    JMM - Pac's leftovers and a lightweight.
Mosley coming off a year and a half layoff.

    See I can play too!

Who is left for Pacman to fight? Only Floyd and Marquez and Floyd doesn't want to fight him. Pac has a great record. This is not a discussion about who fought the better guys. This thread is about would you still be a fan of Pac if he started doing the same shit that Floyd does. If Pac started demanding olympic style drugtesting, if Pac ducked good fighters by retiring and making a comeback when they lost. If Pac started fighting only once every 1,5 years. If Pac pulled that crap, I wouldn't be a fan.
