Just watched the last installment of the Rocky films. Love them all to be honest. This one has a deep meaning to it imo. There are alot of inspirational quotes from the film and touching scenes that really hit home.

I thought Rocky should have been stopped from taking so much punishment tho early on

Oh, Antonio Tarver is a SHIT actor

    Thoughts?

I really enjoyed it, and didn't expect too.

It prompted me to rematch the older films and I really enjoyed the first one too.

Many people don't like the first one. They say it's too long and boring. What do they know, it's a classic :kidcool:

I really hated this movie. Sorry guys.

I hope Ramonza was as outraged by this as he was by "Cinderella Man"

1st two "Rockys" were both classics.

REED Thought "Rocky Balboa" was a Nice BOOKEND to the Series...SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER than "Rocky V" & More LOWKEY than "Rocky IV", in a GOOD Way...

The Fight Itself is just an EXHIBITION, "Mason Dixon" Takes him VERY LIGHTLY & Rocky DOESN'T Win...The Script Even POKES FUN @ Rocky's Age..."Rocky Balboa" was More RESPECTFUL, More GENUINE to the Sport of Boxing Itself than 3-5 were...

Despite Having a New Female LEAD Character, Rocky NEVER Besmirched his Relationship w/Adrian...& they Even Kept it "Real" Enough to Give the Female Lead a BI-RACIAL Child:lol:....REED WANTED to Hate this Flick, Because Roy Jones was SUPPOSED to B Rocky's Opponent, yet Roy Fucked it Off by 1st IGNORING Many of Sly's Phonecalls AND by Getting KO'ed by Tarver...

But 1nce REED Actually Sat Down & WATCHED the Flick, he LIKED it...

I really liked this movie. Roy screwed up but I think Tarver was better in this role anyway.

Out of the Rocky's, Rocky Balboa is my 3rd favorite behind 1 and 4.

Best part was right before Rocky character fights Tarver character and during the referee's instructions Tarver goes "Got any excuses tonight Rocky " and Rocky goes "Ya I'm 85..."

Don't you guys forget it Roy was in Matrix Reloaded. ! It's funny but back then when I heard about him being in it I was excited about a possible fight scene with him against Neo with Roy exhibiting his lighting fast punching against Neo's lighting fast ducking and what not and I go see the movie and there is Roy saying one line something along the lines of "You guys ready ? " Lol cmon seriously that could have been played by anybody ...what a dissapointment!

    Two things I really liked:

First was the talk at the start when one of the guys on tv starts calling Rocky overrated. It was such a perfect truism in boxing that it made me smile. World beater in his day, overrated bum a few years later.

Second was when he blasted his son for being a whiny pussy. That was awesome.

Was the worst one hands down. IMO of course and an obvious cash out by Balboa.

I was pleasantly surprised. My hopes weren't high. That being said I actually liked Rocky V so take that for what you will.

    Mason Dixon: It's already over.
Rocky Balboa: There aint nothin' over till it's over.
Mason Dixon: Where's that from, the 80's?
Rocky Balboa: That's probably the 70's.

    This made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up;

Rocky Balboa: Yo, don't I got some rights?
Boxing Commissioner: What rights do you think you're referring to?
Rocky Balboa: Rights, like in that official piece of paper they wrote down the street there?
Boxing Commissioner: That's the Bill of Rights.
Rocky Balboa: Yeah, yeah. Bill of Rights. Don't it say something about going after what makes you happy?
Boxing Commissioner: No, that's the pursuit of happiness. But what's your point
Rocky Balboa: My point is I'm pursuing something and nobody looks too happy about it.
Boxing Commissioner: But... we're just looking out for your interests.
Rocky Balboa: I appreciate that, but maybe you're looking out for your interests just a little bit more. I mean you shouldn't be asking people to come down here and pay the freight on something they paid, it still ain't good enough, I mean you think that's right? I mean maybe you're doing your job but why you gotta stop me from doing mine? Cause if you're willing to go through all the battling you got to go through to get where you want to get, who's got the right to stop you? I mean maybe some of you guys got something you never finished, something you really want to do, something you never said to someone, something... and you're told no, even after you paid your dues? Who's got the right to tell you that, who? Nobody! It's your right to listen to your gut, it ain't nobody's right to say no after you earned the right to be where you want to be and do what you want to do!... You know, the older I get the more things I gotta leave behind, that's life. The only thing I'm asking you guys to leave on the table... is what's right.

Rocky Balboa: You ain't gonna believe this, but you used to fit right here.

[taps on the inside of his hand]

Rocky Balboa: I'd hold you up to say to your mother, "this kid's gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid's gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew." And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great just watching you, every day was like a privilige. Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did. But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you're no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that! I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son and you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain't gonna have a life.

    Awesome.

    Great isn't it?

Boxing is an almost perfect analogy for life. That speech encapsulated it so well and Stallone DELIVERED it with raw emotion and passion.

I think the film had no value apart from nostalgic, but for that reason only it was worth seeing.

As an individual film it is a very hollow one: the plot is very slow, having the fight makes no sense, who wins doesn't matter at all and the training scenes don't have any of the intensity of past. Most of the film shows Rocky walking around mumbling his naive thoughts about living in the past and without expressing anything new, the same could have been said in ten minutes or so.

However, considering it was a Rocky film, all is forgiven by me

You guys are on crack. I must have burst out in unintentional laughter at least a dozen times during this film...........including during the speeches listed above.

This movie deserved the "Mystery Science Theater 3000" treatment.

I categorically refuse to watch it.

Rocky V was so shit I can't stomach another one, regardless if it's good. Series should have ended with Rocky IV

Yeah, that would have been a great highpoint to end it on but how many boxers have a happy ending. Even though Rocky 5 was not good, the right sentiment was there IMO and Rocky Balboa builds on that and ends it properly.
