Very competitive. Spinks' awkward style would get him the decision.

"Spinks Jinx" would not be a factor in this one.

We're not talking about the lightheavies Hopkins fought though...we're talking about HOPKINS himself.

Hearns would have "beat the crap" out of every middleweight Hagler ever fought, beating probably all more easily than Hagler did (Duran for example) but he couldn't beat Hagler.

Hopkins doesnt hit hard enough to hurt Spinks
He isn't long or fast enough to outjab him or outbox him
He would have to be VERY weary of Spinks's right hand
He's not strong enough to try and bull his way in

so what exactly is he going to do to make it CLOSE???

Hopkins would stink the joint out and SURVIVE, thats it... Spinks 118-110 type of fight ALL FUCKING DAY

    Bull....................shit!

Hopkins' style reduces Spinks usually prodigious output. He's both long, fast and most importantly...SMART and SKILLFUL enough to hang with Spinks in a boxing match and/or jabbing affair. Reach and Speed are not the only things required to win a jabbing contest...on paper Mosley had BOTH on Vernon Forrest.

Hopkins, a few years ago, had a GREAT chin. He's always "weary" anyway without having to fight scared.

Spinks was a GREAT 175lbder...but NO ONE...and I mean...NO ONE embarrasses Hopkins 118-110. Are you mad?

Spinks is one of the 3 or 4 best Light Heavyweights who ever lived... he would absolutely put Hopkins into a careful, tentative shell and win by a VAST margin

    I Dunno...

If Qawi and Muhammad could go the distance with him and win something like 6 rounds each against him, I don't see Hopkins getting virtually shut out at all. Hopkins is 6'1", nimble, smart, elusive and a superb technician in there. He also has enough stamina to hang with Spinks for 15 rounds if necessary.

Qawi won 6 rounds??? where exactly??? That was like Lewis/Tua, that fight... Hopkins doesnt beat Qawi

Muhammad was a superb Light Heavyweight (he also did not win 6 rounds) and a tremendous puncher... Hopkins wouldn't beat him either

I'm probably the biggest Qawi fan on this forum, but PLEEAASSEE point out to me the 6 rounds Qawi won vs Spinks? GTFOH!

Spinks beats Hopkins at 175..... and does so by stoppage.

Are you forgetting that bum ass Crapscal HURT old man B-Hop?

Nuff said! The Jinx would have old man River on his back.

Stinks wins, but considering how Hopkins figured out Roy Jones in the last five rounds of their fight and has found a way to either overcome or at least become very close of doing it against every opponent since, I have to assume that a prime Hopkins would find a way to make it difficult. He is a freak athlete and among the best tactical fighters ever (yes), although his physique isn't enough to actually defeat Stinks

Even with a busted hand, I felt Jones pretty badly whipped on Hopkins. Hopkins was doing a little better late-on, but to say he figured Jones out is too much IMO.

Yeah, to say he figured Jones out is simply wrong.

    Spinks here, big.

I'm not referring to OLD man Hopkins that fought Pascal, I'm referring to the B-Hop that beat Tarver.

Ok I admit..6 rounds may be a stretch...

The B-Hop that beat Tarver wasn't very active... he managed to cause Tarver to hardly throw any punches at all.

The win itself was an incredible feat for Hopkins. The performance has become greatly exaggerated through the years. I don't remember punch stat numbers that night, but would be surprised if Hopkins threw more than 40 punches per round.

I honestly don't see this fight being close at all, sorry to say.
