In all seriousness, though, they are alike to me. They both have this kind of extremely ugly, up-turned pig-snout, something akin to that breed of dog, the pugs. It's one of those looks which worsens when they smile. A housemate I had once had this. I cringed whenever she grinned. Cuba & Roy have it, too.

It's alright Ramone. You're a product of a bygone age. We make concessions for you.

The last of my 1984 vintage

I swear that housemate was white, BTW. Ricky Hatton-white, matter of fact!

I thought the fight scenes were done very well, from the colors and sets to the fight choreography.

The fighters actually miss punches and block in this movie, unlike most boxing films.

And that is what I hate about the movie. Foreman knocks out Frazier, then the next scene is the presser for Ali/Foreman? I know boxing far to well for that to hot annoy the hell out of me.

Still, I thought Smith did a great job as Ali.

The film was shit I tell you. Shit shit shit. As disappointing as the Star Wars prequels.

You guys must have really hated "The Fighter" if you're this distraught over continuity issues.

    :notallthere:

The movie was nearly three hours long as it was.

Smith's acting was fine but he was too ugly to be Ali and way too black. There's probably one guy who can play Ali and that would be Jo Wilfried Tsonga, the wicked tennis player.

Will Smith is not that much darker at all than Muhammad Ali.

The difference is skin tone was far more pronounced in Malcolm X, and that was Denzel's best performance IMO.

That's what perturbed me about the movie, they should have done the build up for Ali-Frazier II (biggest non-title fight of all-time), and they missed Thrilla in Manila, or the 60,000+ that showed up for Ali's re-match for Leon Spinks. I guess there was too much to cover

That's why the movie sucks ass! It didn't do good at the box office. They missed out way too much of Ali's career and life. And Will Smith's rendition didn't come off as charismatic and charming like Ali. He came across as a major asshole. Ali was funny and cool. Smith's version was just a straight punk. Plus Will Smith is kinda ugly compared to Ali. Ali was a handsome dude who stood out from a crowd. Smith on the other hand wouldn't get 2 looks from a chick on the street if he wasn't famous.

The stuff you just mentioned you can take or leave. Finishing with the Zaire fight was fine.

But how de hell...could they gloss over Ali's first fight with Frazier???? You would scarcely find a more significant fight in history!!

Why didn't they focus on the fact that Ali's style and abilities changed after the forced layoff and as a result of this (and the subsequent losses to Frazier and Norton) he was a huge underdog vs the undefeated destructive terror known as Foreman???

I have to become a film director double time and remake this film!
