Wins against washed up old men, handpicked losers, catchweight fights against smaller guys, never fought a great fighter in his prime, has a chance to but won't because he's scared and would rather f*ck around on Twitter making racist videos towards Filipinos and watching tv.

He might regularly use a red toothbrush too. I think to be kind at least SOME of that routine is developed for show. It's a globetrotters boxing display as much as its proper training.

If you watch it closely the question is answered by what the trainer does. He taps Floyds shoulder and elbow without making him move, he slaps the mits towards Floyd's shots without making sure they're accurate shots.

Also, its all synchornized, it's done the same way every time and when I see other trainers teach it they do likewise. It's a choreographed display.

Maybe it serves some training purpose Im missing, but to me I think it's mainly just to show off.

    :dunno:

Looks cool anyway of course, no harm in it - Im sure they do regular mitt work when the cameras aren't around.

Was funny when Hatton was mocking the mitt show in 24/7. Obviously his peers feel it's all show and no substance.

The fact they can do it without even looking at each other is the final word on whether its choreographed or not.:Alabama:

It's for show. Mittwork means nothing. I've seen plenty guys who looked great on the mitts and hitting the bag then got lit up in the ring.

    Doesn't mean anything.

    Please...

(conventional) Mittwork is HARD man. With your logic sparring means nothing too. Lots of superstars in the gym rings....that look like shit in an actual fight.

Anyway, whether or not it's choreographed means nothing (to rebutt Huts position). Hitting a speed bag is "choreographed" technically. Skipping is choreographed. All are routines.

The purpose of that mittwork is to focus on speed, movement and general sharpness. I think it's genius. There's a saying, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". It works for Floyd...he had the last laugh, not Hatton.

It is (the way they do it) for timing etc...

Not just for show, keeping eyes and hands and timing sharp. I've known boxing coaches that are very against this type of MIT work, and some that like it, it is not MIT work like others do it, working on correct punching and power, it is speed and timing, keeping them sharp

While it likely has benefit, it is mainly for show. Any doubts? Watch that video where the mit boy screams that he's the best at the end. It's a show pony workout.

Mayweather is putting on a show BUT he's still using the pads to sharpen up.

I like the choices, for show or "innovation"

    I'd say "neither"

They do that drill when the cameras are off as well. And he does with students that train at Mayweather camp as well, not just Floyd.

At least Hatton wasn't chickensh*t of fighting Pacman. Fagweather would rather type sh*t on Twitter and make videos on Youtube like a bitch.

Probably but Pacman ain't the one hiding behind Twitter talking tough nor posting videos and talking sh*t on black people as a retaliation to Mayweather talking sh*t towards Asians.

I think the fight could happen if Pacman had a mouth like Bernard Hopkins. He could get really racist on Floyd, talk sh*t about his whacked ass family, etc. That would be great for tv! Floyd would have no choice but to fight to save whatever bit of dignity he's got.

I don't know. I think he should. Obviously he wouldn't be very good at sh*t-talking since his english is choppy but he needs to get Mayweather in the ring. Much the same way Tarver got Roy Jones in the ring using smack talking. Talking crap can get things done.

I agree with you Hanzy, but PAC is not Hopkins, he doesn't talk smack like that and with his political aspirations he won't stoop to that, I wish he would
