UFC 131-Carwin-JDS--June 11, 2011 (Prediction Contest)

There is something about current MMA Heavyweight fights that remind me of Mike Tyson's rise to the top. The fights are explosive and you can't blink or you might miss the finish.

Carwin-JDS is no exception. When two big bangers collide it can't help but produce excitement and anticipation. Either guy can finish the fight with a single shot. And even a take down by Carwin doesn't signal a boring fight. His ground and pound is among the most damaging anywhere in MMA.

This is a full card and we are picking all but two fights. And no one better whine!! I just couldn't leave some of these fights off the pick em. Seriously, how often will we get Nick Ring versus Jimmy Head???????

Seriously though, Florian is 5'10" and just cut down to 145. He looked like he was just freed from Auschwitz. I love Florian but man, I don't know about 145...

 

Garza is even taller and is actually great at the weight.

No biggie.

 

Garza's flying triangle was cool as shit but I don't think I'd call him great just yet.

He definitely looks like a different animal at 145 compared to 155, but he isn't great yet.

But that's all moot. I am talking about how Florian looked at the weigh in. And remember, unlike Garza, Florian was fighting at 185 pounds 6 years ago.

 

Didn't mean he is a great fighter, but that his performance is great at the weight.

 

Kenny is just one of the many MMA bitches who thinks cutting a bunch of weight and fighting weaker guys will make them feel stronger instead of going balls out on a strength coach and actually GETTING stronger.

You never see boxers do this stuff. Props to guys like Overeem, and Nate Diaz for getting stronger and moving up in weight.

 

I'm glad you mentioned him. I wanted to see when he's fighting again. Nothing scheduled yet.
