Who wins? And this is at heavy...not some silly p4p match.

To me, Jones is in way over his head in this one.

Only one conceivable winner. Norton drowns him.

Norton all the way, he'd have no respect for Jones at all

I'm glad I don't have to be in the minority here.

Norton all damn day. Jones would not make the final bell.

It certainly would be for Jones. This isn't him cherry picking an alphabet title from a made-to-order mediocrity like Ruiz. This is Jones against a world class heavy who has competed at the highest level.

Nah...what the genius meant was that this was a terrible machup, not even worthy of discussion. And he's correct.

As usual...Stafford takes the time to take a shot at me. Boring.

And...sure it is. Jones fans like you want to give RJJ all kinds of credit for being a "heavyweight champion", but then want to gloss over what a complete scrub Ruiz was. Jones ONLY made the jump because of how awful Ruiz was. Jones fought at heavy and he held a belt...which makes him every bit eligible for discussion at this weight. For you to give him credit for being a title holder at the weight and then saying he shouldn't be considered a heavyweight (again...even though he was a title holder there and it's considered one of his major accomplishments) is being a hypocrite.

Fighters get discussed at higher weights than they started at (or spent the bulk of their careers at) all the time here in the MM forum...why is it SO bad for Jones to be discussed in that fashion? Just recently I have seen Thomas Hearns being discussed at 175 (in a topic you opened, by the way), Bob Foster at heavy and Donald Curry at 160. Where was the bitching and calling them horrible match-ups, blah, blah, blah...from you then? Oh, that's right...they do not number among your favorites so that is ok with you.

Fightbeat's biggest jerk-off chimes in and is hard at work toward his goal of making the forum suck a little more each day. Good job!

Your shitty attitude is usually the kiss of death for any intelligent conversation, so we might as well call it and put this topic in a body bag now that you have infected it.

And of course, Stafford piggybacks off the stupid comment.

Hmmmm...here's something interesting. Not too long there was a Roy Jones vs David Tua topic

    http://fightbeat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40354&highlight=roy+jones

Now in THIS topic, Stafford makes a pick with NO mention of Jones not being a heavy or how pointless this topic is and is not even worth discussing. He joins the discussion three different times, and not one of them is a complaint about the topic which is about Jones in the ring with a top heavy contender of the time who was a bigger puncher than Norton (and a fighter he would most likely pick to KO Norton).

But when I start a topic like this, Stafford, of course, criticizes it.

Sounds like a hypocrite to me.

Oh no, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that my comments would end the animated discussion around this scintillating matchup. Nevermind what I said, please carry on enriching the forum with this topic.

If only I could. If you really want to help out, you can find another forum to pollute and stop ruining this one. That would be a better contribution than anything I've seen from you around here.

I really did get to you with my comments. You spent 25 mins (difference in time between the original post and the edit) researching topics to see whether you could find out something that would give you some kind of "advantage".

Didn't mean to get under your skin that much. Sorry my man....

Norton too big and strong and not hesitant like Ruiz. Jones troubles Norton for a round or two then get pinned to the ropes and wishes he was fighting at 175 again. Norton KO4 Jones. The Jones of the Ruiz fight would have given a lot of heavys trouble in my opinion. I'd pick him over one-paced heavys like Tua, Rahman, Moorer and over the powerpunchers who were too slow-footed and clumsy to hit him - Smith, Weaver etc. He would see their punches coming a mile away. But real pressure fighters Tyson, Frazier would kill him once they wore him out and the worst match-ups for Jones would be with big guys who could box and punch. RJJ v Bowe, lewis, Holmes? - forget it!

And of course, by "advantage" you mean "the truth"...and it's well-known you don't want anything to do with that.

It's not my fault you talk out of both sides of your mouth on a regular basis and have been proven time and time again to be a hypocrite.

One of these days you might actually surprise everyone and write something that isn't complete bullshit. Maybe...

Wow I didn't think that was going to set off ww3. Anyway I know this forum is full of ridiculous matchups but they usually aren't started by BWJ. This is a terrible matchup and yes I didn't think it would create any meaningful discussion because it is a clear cut whipping in favor of Norton.

I suppose there is only so many matchups that haven't been done before.

I really hope that wasn't intended as a barb because I can't stand Mundine and am fully aware that he started his career at 168 so he wouldn't have to face Jones at 175.

He is also an arrogant fraud who fights nobodies and then claims he's the best in the world. Swing and a miss if that was your intention.

 I thought the general consensus of Mundine in Australia was that he was a massive cuntbag or something

Yes and no. I'm more disappointed in him more than anything else because for a guy who didn't have an ammy career at all, he was surprisingly good.

He has since proceeded to talk garbage and fight garbage however whilst bilking the stupid Aussie boxing fans of money. Worst part about it is he and fellow fraud Danny Green take the focus away from true warriors like Katsidis and Vic and make boxing look like a joke.

I would still say Mundine fans are in a definite minority in Australia, but everything else you posted here is uncontestable, & I especially agree about Mundien & Green soaking up way more attention than they deserve, in particular from more worthy candidates. Katsidis chief among them.
