Well Lacy was obviously a bum, we know because that bum Joe Calzaghe beat him......Duran, as you know, was taller than Joe, faster than Joe, and even more South-Pawy than Joe, in fact Roberto was like Ultra Southpaw, he had two left hands and two right feet. He had three southpaw jabs and a back-hand like Rafa Nadal. Lacy. Easily.
In spite of Irish trying to prop up Lacy to make a white fighter (Calzaghe) look better, Lacy was nothing but an overrated left hook and a williingness to endure punishment. Duran UD.
Duran gives Lacy a combination of some Moore type beating with a longer lasting flavor of Barkley fight...
barkely wouldve belted duran at 168lbs and as it was duran barely edged him at middle. lacy wasnt very good but at super middle he beats everyones little panamanian hero.
i agree. but who did duran ever beat at super middleweight? lacy comes in the ring at 175+lbs and has enough to whip duran
i agree but who did duran ever defeat at super middle. lacy comes in the ring at over 175lbs and lays a whipping on little, fat duran
I think the gulf in class is bigger than the gulf in size here. Like Hut said, Lacy really was garbage.
Jeff Lacy makes Iran Barkley look like Mike McCallum. And though he was more bulked up I don't think he was as big as Barkley, frame wise, either. Duran eeks out a win. Probably even early 90s Duran would eek out a win.
you duran guys are real ambitious. do you think he'd beat charles brewer at 168lbs? how about richard hall at 175lbs?
Beating Jeff Lacy isn't ambitious. Nah, I think Brewer would probably have enough to beat a fat old Duran. Lacy just blows in a special way.
even at 168, I think DUran has at least a shot here... Lacy was garbage... it's a 50/50 I think Charles Brewer annihlates Duran at 168, he's far too good offensively Giving Calzaghe a huge amount of credit for decisioning Brewer when he did is retarded, BTW, and I have seen people do it. Brewer, who was a dangerous offensive fighter with a million other flaws even at his peak, was fairly used up when Calzaghe beat him... Calzaghe's inability to stop him is a major indictment of his punch... Brewer had an extremely shaky chin and leaky defense
