That was brutal, Ouma absorbed some punishment, particular late on, while Golovkin abandoned any semblance of defence for much of it, he's not exactly hard to reach although his conditioning is brilliant...worth seeing although its starts to get ugly from the 9th onwards..

Watching it now on Youtube. Where did you catch it???? Not sold at all on Golovkin, personally I would rate Dzindzuruk as a better fighter than Ouma.

Ouma went to the hospital after the fight. It would have been much better for him if he just got straight knocked out. Golovkin probably missed more punches on the heavy bag than he did against Ouma in the last 2 rounds.

Great things were predicted for Ouma once.

Basically true. I don't think many believed he'd be considered top P4P one day, but possibly crack the list. Big time work rate and also came back from getting hurt. He wasn't a guy who fits into the "fraud" category but went down hill rapidly after just starting to get noticed.

I was shocked when I heard that he had lost to Karmazin.

The J.C. Candelo fight made him look amazing but that was almost 10 years ago.

Same. He was looking nice against guys like Philips and Jantuah.

He made it into Ring Magazine, who may have been as much taken in by his colorful war story background as anything else. He was also a pal of Zab Judah, which probably didn't help.

Very true. Could be that Zab got subjects like Particle Physics and Epistemology stuck in Ouma's head and it took away from his concentration on boxing.

I did a radio interview with Ouma back in '05 and he was all over the map. He was making up words, and halfway through the interview he said "Hey, let me call you back" and hung up.

That would be either Ouma or Wayne Braithwaite.

I'm pretty sure it was Ouma.

The "Big Truck" was another guy who's career nose dived as well. Upping the CW to 200 i'm sure didn't help his cause but he was already on the way out anyway.

Well, that and Zab telling him how to slip straight rights and demonstrating to him his patented "Winner Takes All" technique for dominating Russian opponents.

Ouma and Bobby Mensa Chizz probably have two of the most compelling stories I have come across in boxing.

Both also ended their careers taking beatings.

It pays not to have a compelling story :nono:

    Be safe. Be boring.
