Haye called Wlad "Boy"......and then sat there quivering :: What a fucking moron :: Roy Speaks: "first time we have a heavyweight fight the result were are unsure of, both of these guys go down from big punches, whoever lands first wins, it won't go the distance, they are ready to go in there and see who can take what".
Pictures of Genaro Hernandez being shown now. Mexicans have a weird idea of what a moments silence is all about :: Roy pays respects to Hernandez by agreeing that Hernandez was a better man than he was a fighter :: Roy on Canelo: "As a boxer, he is a power-punching Mexican, he is an anomaly, as a one-punch merchant from Mexico. But he can be outworked and lacks Rhodes experience, and must not try to bang Rhodes out and get out-worked at the same time" Roy on Rhodes: "He's the toughest opponent of Canelo, but Canelo hits harder than most guys Rhodes has fought"
Somebody has got their hands on the Rocky Soundtrack and is playing tracks off it. Here comes Canelo. Is it East vs West, or Man against Man, Can Any Nation Stand Alone??? :dunno:
Canelo looks by far the stronger of the two. Rhodes looks like a dejected smackhead, Canelo looks plump and freckled.
Not sure why Rhodes turned southpaw. He's making it easy for Saul to hit him with straight right hands. Dumb tactic.
Round 2 a copy of Round 1. Canelo throwing combos, landing every other punch, Rhodes too pedestrian though he did land a decent right-hand at the end of the round. Alvarez simply too active, two clear rounds up now.
Roy just admitted that Otis Grant was a 160lbr with no punch. :: Round 3: Rhodes showing more activity now and exhibiting a good defense, but Canelo winning the rounds on activity, aggression and shots landed. Canelo tried a home-run right that Rhodes easily missed, and is burning more energy accordingly. Rhodes looks comfortable in there, switching stance and looking for counters. If Canelo had a better uppercut he might get Rhodes into deeper water, sooner. After 3 rounds, 3-0 to Alvarez, 30-27.
Rhodes down, a bit off balance, but a legitimate knockdown, Round 4. Not much of a punch to be honest.
Round 5 More of the same from Canelo, moving his hands, landing with some, missing with some, Rhodes game plan is now well established: survive long enough for Canelo to get tired and give Rhodes some options. Rhodes corner not happy with him and telling him to move his fucking hands. Canelo 6 up after 5. Well established pattern now.
round 6 Canelo cannot miss when Rhodes is standing lefty. CANNOT MISS. Rhodes did some good work and it is clear that Canelo knows he is still in a fight, moving his hands more. The problem for Rhodes is that he lands best out of southpaw stance, but gets hit too much in that same stance. Then the problem is that he over-extends, and whilst he lands, he gets nailed while he is flat-footed. Another round for Canelo.
Round 7 Rhodes cut under his right eye, off a jab I think. Canelo pushes Rhodes over, not a good sign for either guy, but especially Rhodes, who shouldn't be pushed over so easy. Alvarez throwing downstairs and then turning it into a right uppercut, but thats not his best punch at all. His jab has been good in this fight. Rhodes gets off a nice left hook, forces Canelo to the ropes and lands a few body shots, nothing serious. Rhodes corner are telling him that he is "Gary Lockett Over Again". I think Rhodes is doing fine. He's not winning and he won't win, but he doesn't need to be read the riot act by his corner either. Alvarez is a half-division bigger than him and younger too. 7-0, Canelo
Round 8 Fight starts in the audience :: Another clear round for Canelo who went to the body with gusto in the 8th....Canelo knows he can stop this guy but seems too winded to launch a sustained attack. Pretty obvious now which way this is going. I just hope Rhodes corner won't pull him out. I need the Predo points Ryan, so hang in there and take a whipping. Rhodes is being told by his corner to stay orthodox.
Round 9 Canelo is winded now and is fighting spurts. He is not in any difficulty as such but Rhodes did land a brace of clean right hooks and a jab in there. Canelo comes back with some more of the same having taken the first half of the 9th round off. Crowd seem distracted by something outside and Alvarez shoots a glance at his corner. Alvarez definitely seems to be reserving himself, might go for it in the C-Ship rounds after he conserves a bit of gas first. 9th round also to Canelo but it was a bit closer.
Round 10 Starts with Rhodes corner giving him encouragement. Lederman says that Rhodes should be disqualified because Rhodes cornerman is sitting on the apron. What a stupid biased cunt. Just shut your kraut mouth and call the scores, faggot. Alvarez fights in spurts, does good work to the body, Rhodes takes it and looks for counters, nothing doing. Rhodes tries a big right and just misses. A better fighter might take advantage of Canelo's tiredness. Another Canelo round.
Round 11. Canelo's corner actually giving him encouragement, they know how tired he is. Rhodes corner want him to keep his hands up, walk in, and let his hands go and give it everything he has got. Really encouraging him to go for this. Rhodes does get in with a good left hand to the head, snaps back Canelo, but Canelo has him beat for quantity and verve right now. Rhodes corner continue to roar him on. Fair play to them. Roy praises Rhodes gutsy display, Rhodes tags Canelo again with a looping left off a combination. Roy astutely notes that when Rhodes does not throw, he does not land. Even round for me.
Round 12. Rhodes corner tell him "you might as well get knocked out", they want him to walk in with his hands up and just let his hands go. Canelos corner ask him if he is alright and tell him there is one round to go. Rhodes corner tell him to "do yourself proud" Canelo opens the 12th strongest but his tank is empty and he needs to go walkabout pretty soon after. REFEREE STOPS IT!!! WHAT A WEAK STOPPAGE!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fucking cunt referee just robbed me of invaluable points. Rhodes was dancing and smiling. Towel did come in mind. Weak stoppage.
What's wrong with you all?? Weren't you all amped to see Litzau? He's the reason people watch HBO!!! What about Canelo? Huffing and Puffing his way to a lucky 12 round KO over Lee Blundell victim, Ryan Rhodes?? Are you not entertained? :dunno: It's 5AM over here but there is no way I can go to bed after what I witnessed tonight. I need my heart-rate to come down!
I am sorry to differ with you, Sir, but Litzau is the reason why people watch HBO. Apparently people still like to see other people get KTFO.
Canelo is nothing special but he is not bad for a 20 year old. To me there is no comparison with Chavez jr. Canelo at least knows the basics. He seems ready to test the best that 154 has to offer. Chavez jr. can't even throw a fucking jab, he just comes forward and crouches to bang the body. Hard to say how good Canelo will be but his has up side. Chavez. jr. not much.
I think Canelo is going to curve-flat pretty soon. There's not much more improving he can do apart from acquiring some "man-strength" as he ages but he is already bossing guys physically thanks to selective match-making and being bigger at the weight to begin with, especially where the weight is what he decides it to be.
