The come-from-behind knockout is perhaps my favourite in the knockout category. Hence why this is the first of the series.

This type of knockout is typically featured among the greatest fights in history and usually showcases tremendous fighting HEART!

What are you favourite examples of this?

    Mine

    1. Eubank - Watson 2

Both men came to fight but Watson came to win. Watson steadily outboxed then outpunched Eubank as the fight wore on and suddenly Eubank was hopelessly trailing on points and had apparently little energy left in the tank to even mount a comeback. Knowing that his only shot at victory was to score a KO Eubank came out for the 11th rounds gave it all he had for one last stand. Fighting on fumes alone he almost had Watson going but then, suddenly, he hit the wall. He had punched himself out. He was done. Watson came back and dropped Eubank. Victory for Watson was then a certainty. Eubank gets up and finds an uppercut from hell and Watson is down. The rest is history.

    2. Corrales vs Castillo 1

Yes, it was a competitive fight all the way through, but Castillo had certainly begun to take over by the start of the 10th round and with 2 KDs early in that round it was now clear that Corrales needed a KO to win the fight. IN that very round Corrales stopped the steel chinned Castillo with a flurry of powerpunches!

    3. Leonard - Hearns 1
    4. Marciano - Walcott 1
    5. Louis - Conn 1

Corrales-Castilllo I is a Certified "WhattheFUCK?!" Moment in Boxing History...Not Only was Chico LOSING the Fight on the Cards, but he Seemed WEAKENED & On his Way to Being STOPPED...

Next Thing U Know, a HARD, Well Placed Shot Gets Castillo's Attention...Another Couple of Hard, Well Placed Shots HURT him & a Few More Left him HELPLESS & All but Unconcious, Against the Ropes...Not Only was this a "Come from Behind KO", it's Also 1 of the More ABRUPT Shifts in Momentum that U'll EVER See...

I want to know how Diego Corrales was able to master that short, quick counter left hook on the inside. That punch was developed later in his career and when he can land it, the punch is devastating. For such a tall guy, would be one of the last punches you would think he had in his arsenal.

I loved Whitaker-Hurtado, they told whitaker he needed a KO to win and whitaker, of all people, went out and did it. Granted it was Hurtado, and a green Hurtado... but you watch that round and Whitaker completely set him up for the punch, he kind of stutter-stepped a feint with his left, Hurtado flinched, and Whitaker sniped him on the chin with a power left hand.... then 10 more followed in a row.

Lennox vs. Bruno was big because of the rain that was falling and threatening to end the match after 5 complete rounds, at which point Bruno was well ahead.

Junior Jones vs. Rich Everett was a random good one, imo.

Kevin Kelley vs. Derrick Gainer I. One of my faves. Wish someone could have done that to Roy Jones the same night

Weaver-Tate was pretty amazing. It wasn't even all that good of a fight, Tate was winning with litle difficulty and all he had to do was finish the 15th without getting KOed and then all of a sudden he was out cold, face-first on the canvas.

Lewis wasn't getting dominated and he would've stopped Vitali on his own in any case, so that's a bad example.

Byrd / Vitali is a GREAT example, though.

He must've been down like 20 points on the cards with all of those knockdowns.

Everything was in Tate's favor... he was the golden boy, the future of the division, big and skillful, fighting in his own backyard, the crowd loving him, Weaver chasing with futility, eating jabs... he sort of buzzed Tate in the 12th or 13th (can't remember for sure) but the big guy recovered and Weaver looked gassed anyway, minor bump in the road, just crusing along and WHAM!!! pole-axed and counted out 45 seconds away from his first successful defense... crowd-STUNNED

    And Weaver went bananas

Whole fight is on YT but this is just the KO round. Heavy left hook and Tate is asleep standing up.

Tackie had remarkable, stupid power... he just had a tendency to stop throwing punches... he had another ridiculous KO, can't remember who it was against... it was a right hand, sounded like someone had dropped a 40000 page hardcover book from a 6th storey window
