I liked it but only because I'm such a video game nerd. Although it's not based on a video game I'd call it the best video game movie made.

This is what I posted in the original movie thread. I've actually seen it a couple times more since, and it's really grown on me. I like it a lot.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - My surprise of the year. Was out with the family and decided to pop in the movie theater. This never would have been on our list but it was a choice between this or "Dinner For Schmucks".

I have to say.........it was cloying, trite, tried too hard to be clever..........all the analogies you can make for a modern teenager/young adult angst filled comedy. Complete with the typical clever, sarcastic dialogue. It was "Juno" for Video gamers/Comic Book nerds.

That said. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was just a fun movie. Micheal Cera was funny, playing a character even more pathetic then usual, though it's still nearly impossible to picture him as a leading man or romantic lead. The supporting cast was great. Everybody hammed it up pretty effectively and it had a very original visual style to it.

I didn't have very high expectations but I'm glad we went to see it. 7.5/10

did i miss something here? do you have to be a gamer to appreciate this movie? a few of my friends were raving about it, so i watched expecting a 'kick-ass' like film, instead i got some teeny bopper shit w/ that kid from superbad, who i think has zero talent.

terrible plot, overly done effects w/ shitty cameos.

I loved it, and I don't play video games at all. My review is in another thread already.

    i liked it.

the general suburbanite adolescent tone ("i kinda like you... and stuff") probably grates for a lot of people; but past that, the direction, all computer game/anime-stylee, really worked for me.

I play video games but I don't feel like that affected my opinion on it at all. I think it's just a really fun film and I recently watched it again and enjoyed it more the 2nd time around as I caught a lot of the more clever jokes and funny moments I missed (or forgot) the first time around.

I don't get how people can't suspend disbelief or are too uptight to enjoy a film like this, it was totally fun.
