Since the Ali haters will likely jump in here talking about Norton, Shavers and Young...I'm specifying the Cassius Clay version who beat Liston.

Clay was about the same size as Haye but with even faster feet, better head movement and reflexes, faster hands, more stamina and workrate. Fuckers today claim that Wlad would be too big for a guy like Clay...nothing in the Haye fight told me this. Clay by clear decision.

Agreed, but it wouldn't be easy & Ali would have to run more than dance for large stretches.

Ali is the only heavyweight, hell the only FIGHTER who Sly doesn't apply his time-warp theory of boxing modernization to

If this were ANY OTHER FIGHTER from before 1990, Sly would be waxing poetic about Wlad's size and athleticism and how the other guy has no chance, blahblahblah

Clay by decision and possibly late stoppage due to cuts.

    No.

Holmes would beat Wlad, tyson would beat Wlad, Foreman would beat Wlad...Louis may have beaten Wlad. Try again.

It is insulting to Ali to suggest that this is a fight

doug young and jimmy young took him to the wire but a supremely athletic 6'7 guy with going on 20 title fight wins & 85% KO % is a joke opponent :mj:

I just wanted to start the same thread. Muhammed Ali also had enough power to keep Wlad honest. He koed the ironchinned Foreman. You forgoy to mention his jab. His jab is also far superior. Whenever Haye jabbed Wlad was having trouble with it.

    Doug Jones, you mean?

Well it wasn't much of a fight when the 6'7 superman was bounced around like a basketball by a jorneyman golfer or when he collapsed in a pathetic heap against a fat, lazy, slovenly nobody who could barely carry the golfer's jock:dunno::dunno:

If those nobodies, why not the best of them all?

Seriously, I don't know when you became a Wlad fan or what prompted you to suddenly judge this tall, athletically gifted but VERY SKITTISH and deeply flawed heavyweight as some remarkable force

    His brother would batter him

Yes, Hut, Boxing really, really sucks right now, I am saying that. Not just heavyweights, ALL boxing, ALL divisions. There are some fighters who would contend in other eras... Vitali would, because he's big, he's very awkward and strong and he can take a shot and fight back... Wlad is a champion simply because his brother is the other champ... I don't care how much nicer Wlad's punches look, or how "smart" he has become to hold on tightly to any of his shit opponents who starts to come after him (which they do for about 5 minutes tops in the whole fight) because he still clearly has no answer to real aggression other than clinching... I don't care how much more "correct" he looks than his big brother... his big Brother is so much tougher that comaprisons are as meaningless as Wlad's "correctness" would be if he was ever in the ring with him

Of all the guys on here, you might be the last I ever would have thought would be using things like "20 title fight wins" and "85% KO" to prop a guy up without first qualifying the numbers...

Klitschko would be horribly out-classed by Louis. Horribly.

Yeah, he would be outclassed if Louis could reach him, but in my opinion Wlad wouldn't have too much problem with keeping the distance. For all his greatness Louis was pretty slow on foot, and he was actually smaller than Haye for example, i can't really imagine he would have much success trying to get closer.

Yeah, because Louis had a lot of trouble punching holes through a number of men just as big, right?

Whenever will the world learn that the most tangible isnt always going to be the best one. I have no doubt whatsoever that little brother would never survive Louis, not in a hundred outings. Vitali would be a tougher task for Louis, and most here know I hold big brother in markedly lower esteem than junior.

Just as big, with comparable footwork and jab? Yes, i think he would have a lot of trouble with his deliberate footwork.

Wlad beats both Clay and Louis. Decisions Clay in a close fight. Completely and utterly destroys Louis.

He couldnt even stop, much less utterly destroy, the likes of Ibragimov, or Haye, yet people like you and Sly have him comatosing Foreman, or decimating Louis. LOL.

Where is this powerhouse youre all watching? He has a lions body, but the man is unmistakably a mouse.

Sorry if I spoil this group therapy thread, but this is a very close fight. The problem here is that the fight is between the real Wladimir and the highlight reel of Ali, which is a bit unfair.

Haye fought reasonably well against Wlad, running, moving and countering, so there is a good reason to assume that Clay, who had everything over Haye, would defeat Wlad. However, George Chuvalo and Karl Mildenberger did reasonably against Ali, and apart from chin and southpaw stance neither had anything over Wlad, and both practically followed Clay around.

Ali is the favorite but Wlad's reach, jab and sharpness would make it a VERY good fight, saying otherwise is not being honest. Peace

If being a mouse means the same as valuing KOs and decisions as similar, then yes. Whether or not that is the correct way of thinking, that is a matter of taste. But undoubtetly Wlad seems to be happy to get a decision

This is whee your logic fails: styles change fights completely. After Sultan felt the power of Wlad's (jabs), he gave up and backed away. Wlad was happy to walk to a free victory without pushing for KO. But can you see Louis or Foreman pulling a Sultan? I'd think even if they fell behind, they would try to attack and turn the fight. This would make the targets for Wlad's best punch, the counter right, and Wlad does have the ability to KO everybody.

And no, I am not saying Wlad beats them, just the fact that you can't compare different fighters that way

I dont see my logic failing me at all. The only man who can prove your point here is Klitschko. He wont go after the softest of targets, I dont buy for a minute hes going to turn into Mike Tyson when hes confronted by Foreman.

If thats logic, you can keep it.

Chuvalo won, what, three stanzas from Ali, in a 15-rounder?

His whole point is he wouldnt have to 'go after' him. Foreman would force the issue.

FWIW, I'd favour George over Wlad

About that yes, the same way Haye won two against Wlad. The point was that neither Ali nor Wlad looked unbeatable in every fight, watch that bout and it is a routine performance from Ali

Remember that Haye hardly won a round...
Ali by decision, but Ali would have a lot of problems here due to Wlads superior height & reach.
Ali would win the same way he'd win against Lewis (Yes Lewis is a lot better than Wlad), by superior footwork. Turning Wlad, not letting him set, & out-landing him.
