agREED. Nothing Spinks did was going to change the outcome. He was in way over his head.

Agreed. Terrible matchup for him really. But his freezing that night was a fear thing, rather than a dive

1st of All, Spink WAS Scared...No Doubt about It...But that was a LEGIT KO, Nonetheless...Spinks was a "Different" Sort who was ALWAYS Somewhat Scared/Nervous Prior to his Fights...Spinks was 1 of those Guys that HATED Boxing, yet Couldn't Make GOOD Money Doing Anything Else...

After Winning GOLD in the '76 Olympics, Spinks DECLINED Promotional Offers & Accepted a WAREHOUSE GIG....It Wasn't Until a YEAR or So Later that Spinks FINALLY Turned Pro...

Pertaining to the Topic, YES, Michael Spinks was SCARED, but it had NO Bearing on HIS Effort OR the Final Outcome...Though FREQUENTLY Scared, there was NO "Bitch" In Michael Spinks...When it was Time to Fight, he FOUGHT...& Even Against Tyson, Spinks LITERALLY Went Down SWINGING...

While Trapped Against the Ropes, Spinks ATE a Hard Uppercut AND a Follow Up Bodyshot from Tyson, which Deposited him on the Canvas...The Uppercut Did MOST of the Damage Though...Spinks Takes the 8-Count, Fight Resumes, Tyson Rushes, Spinks Launches his FAMED "Spinks Jinx" Overhand Right, Tyson EVADES It, Fires a COUNTER Right Hookercut of his Own (Which Lands FLUSH) & KO's Spinks...

The Hookercut LIFTED Spinks OFF of his Feet & Knocked him BACKWARDS...ALL of Spinks Momentum was Going FORWARD, then ONE shot Shifted it Literally...Spinks was CROSS EYE'D as he Lay on the Canvas, he TRIED to Beat the Count, then Fell Into a Drunken Heap, on the Bottom Rope...

Short of Spinks Being FLAT on his BACK for a Few Minutes, that was about as CLEAN a KO as you Can Ask For...

    THIS...

Spinks was Clearly a "Deer-in-Headlights", but Tyson was a Vehicle that STEAMROLLED Him Head On, Regardless...

    Yep...

The UPPERCUT Against the Ropes is a Punch that MANY Still HAVEN'T Seen or Acknowledged, Even Years Later...It was THAT Punch that Led to Spinks' 1st Knockdown, NOT the Bodyshot...But Having Said that, the Bodyshot was Pretty TASTY Too...

Sly is "out there" with his boxing logic, but at least he tries. He doesn't talk about shits on chests so he's OK with me.

Spinks was a slow starter and wasn't a big puncher at HW so I think it was legit, just an awful matchup for him

Muhammad Ali is Probably the COOLEST, Most HANDSOME Athlete EVER...Despite How SAD it is, Viewing Ali TODAY, he's Never Looked WORSE than he Did in the Intro's of This Fight...

Those Glasses he's Rocking R Fucking RIDICULOUS....ATROCIOUS...He Looks like a Light-Skinned Steve Urkel or Something....The Absolute WORST Ali's EVER Looked, in REED's Opinion...

I think he was legitimately hurt by the first one and even the second

could he have gotten up? possibly, on that count I agree with Ramonza and Co.

but I do think he was legitimately floored

Similar, but Ali Looks even WORSE...

LARGE, BLACK Rimmed Glasses w/COKE BOTTLE LENSES...It's NOT Surprising @ All that Ali Made a Total of ONE Public Appearance Wearing those God Forsaken Things...

If Tyson didn't return to boxing after prison in 1995, he'd probably be god-like in stature now.

Yeah but people still try to brush that aside as a freak win over a sick Tyson or something.

It was Douglas on perhaps his best day against a lazyish Tyson but the fight was clear. It wasn't a stinker decision or or had any controversy.

    Mike got KTFO out.

It's not that he lost his undefeated record but it showed clearly one again that nobody is invincible.
