McCall for me. Guy took flush right hands from Lennox Lewis in the middle of a nervous breakdown and barely flinched.

Juan Laporte had a better chin than each of those guys

Chuvalo......he had a world class chin and everything else was pretty much bargain-basement.

Chuvalo had a good set of lungs and a very mean hook downstairs.

Hes my pick for this thread.

McCall. I saw Hagler momentarily stunned by Hearns. Never seen mcCall stunned by a punch.

McCall probably never faced the punchers that Chuvalo did. Lewis, as you know, was a mere powder-puff in comparison to Ali and Foreman.

Add Lamotta to the mix and put them in any order you like. Some of the toughest men ever to live.

I might plump for McCall if I had to pick one. The shots he took while having that breakdown were inhuman.

The body can only feel pain in one location.

Once McCall had gone cold turkey, he probably passed out from the punches he had taken hours previously.

Like I said, I will take LaPorte over all of them

With the exception of Hagler, who definitely had a great chin no doubt, the guys listed in the poll were guys who stood there and got hit... it's a lot easier to handle shots when you are expecting to get belted

LaPorte would get caught with the most brutal counter shots in mid-throw and he wouldn't budge... he was never off of his feet... And god, look who he was in there with! The guy never ducked anyone in his life, he fought them all... never dropped or anything close to it

his only stoppage loss came in his last fight... Zach Padilla, a good fighter at that time... he wasn't hurt at all but he was just running into one shot after another and hs guys wouldn't let him out for any more

I never saw LaPorte visibly hurt in a fight and he wasn't some bum standing there liek Cobb or Chuvalo getting blasted... he was fighting, throwing... it hurts a hell of a lot more getting hit when you are throwing and defenseless than it is when you are standing there sort of rolling with it, soaking it up

LaMotta, as great as his chin was, he gor dropped, he was stopped a couple of times legitimately

Hagler looked uncomfortable sometimes from shots, not often, but sometimes and he was a much betetr boxer than LaPorte

Laporte never came within 100 miles of getting taken down by anybody

You make it out like McCall was just some bum, he beat a fair few good fighters, and one all time great. He didn't just stand there and ship punches like a spaz

What glorious times they were. Biting ears, quitting in the ring, crack-pipe champions, guys in diabetic comas, guys called Evan Fields.

With marbles in tow, Oliver McCall beats the living fuck out of every fighter either Klitschko has ever faced. Including a fat Lewis.

compared to a quality pro like LaPorte, he does

and LaPorte's resume of opponents largely shits all over his

I'm not calling him a BUM by any stretch

McCullough should probably be on that list. But I agree that LaPorte's chin was outstanding too. Of those listed, I chose McCall.

Chuvalo's was good, but he was out on his feet against Foreman. Hagler was hurt by Mugabi and Hearns. And Cobb didn't prove enough.

Chuvalo was wounded, but protested the stoppage pretty spiritedly. Out on his feet is something like Castillo against Corrales. Chuvalo, astonishingly enough, was not near to that state.

Chuvalos chin was not good - it was the 8th wonder of the world.

Yeah, I mean, if Golota had his wits about him he........etc etc etc. It's like saying that the Thalidomide in the wheelchair would have a mean jump shot if only he had his limbs. Its a synch between brains and brawn, if you lack either, forget about it.

Difference is we've seen McCall in action with his 'marbles in tow,' so to speak.
