Defensive wizard vs offensive machine. My thinking is if Manny Pac lost a majority of rounds to Marquez at feather, Pep would clown him. In spite of his speed, Pac was too predictable at this weight for a guy like Pep.. Pac would have a fairly big size advantage, but I don't know if it'd really help him much.
I dont think it would be so simple as that...size, output, speed, angles, killer instinct --- Pacquiao has em all. My feeling is this is a match. Peps not been in with someone quite like him. Marquez proved he could hurt & even somewhat stun Pacquiao, making him think twice. Pep wouldnt have that luxury, IMO. With that said, Pep was a famously quick study. His beating a fighter of Saddlers ability is a remarkable statement on how great he was, being badly diminished. For nigh-on everyone prior to the accident, Pep was untouchable, he can be seen as a far, far more elusive target than Marquez, & with no lesser Boxing brain. Pep also has a style edge here, & no one who ever gave that up beat Pep in all his long career. Pep would probably win it, & might even begin to clown Pacquiao at times, but it remains a dangerous fight & Pep had best not to get brave.
Pep, for sure, I think Like Ramonza said, he'd need to maintain his focus, but I think his defensive genius is so great and his ability to keep a guy off balance to take away some of his power would really disturb Pacquiao's rhythm and style Sly's pick is completely idiotic, no wonder since he ran away from the Willie Pep thread I started a while back
I've downloaded a few Pep fights but haven't watched them all yet. (seems the last few years i've "collected" more than watched) Pep was a master of using the ring, and footwork was a big part of it. Manny has some of the best offensive footwork in the game and Pep wouldn't be able to just dance out of harm's way like he did with so many other opponents. That's not to say Pacquiao wins, but it's something that to be considered.
