Daniel Cormier is the replacement and will fight Big Foot in September. Overeem refused to fight in September saying it was not enough time. Sound like they told him it's september or you're out, so he opted out. I posted this in the other thread but thought it was worthy of it's own thread. Discuss.
he claims he wasn't ready to fight in september, but it sounds shady. even if he eyes a bout w/ klitschko, he needs to have a few pro boxing fights before even being considered as a viable opponent. he should go to bellator before ufc buys them out too haha.
he can fight a scrub in the interim and fight the winner of the tourney. i think cormier beats silva.
I'm actually pissed that Chad Griggs isn't the replacement for Overeem. He's had twoo good wins on the undercard of the damn thing, he's more popular than Cormier and way more exciting to watch. WAR SIDEBURNS!!!
Overeem fears Silva. Silva would fuck him up anyway. So Overeem is actually pretty clever to stay out of Big Foot's way. Overeem says he needs time to heal from his Werdum fight who is he fucking kidding I mean seriously that wasn't even a fight. Overeem's "monster" image was exposed in the Werdum fight and if he went on to fight Silva his days at the top would be done. He's (or his people or both) is trying to preserve the image of this monster hulk looking killer for future big pay days. I have a feeling if Strikeforce were on their own and not Zuffa owned they would bend over back wards for Overeem and schedule the Silva fight for 2013 if that's what it took to make Overeem happy. UFC doens't need him and doens't give a fuck and doesn't fuck around.
I don't know anyone can be a fan of Overeem. The guy had the second best platform in the world to make noise in MMA's HW division and he pisses on it. Oh well, back to plenty of juice and Todd Duffee's in Japan I guess.
Cormier is going to get trashed. He'll fight either a scrub or someone like Fedor then his contract is up. From there who knows what he'll do....but I bet Dana tries to bring him over.
I'm not sure the version of Overeem that beat Werdum can beat Fedor. It seems to me if Fedor can survive the first round, he would be able to torture a gassed Overeem in brutal fashion in the 2nd.
