You don't have Tim Burton on there so I have no problem with this list even though I don't know many of the directors on there and don't have the time to google them all.

All I know is Tim Burton is worse, at least IMO because I hate Tim Burton and his stupid black theme style every time.

If you mean right now, I am not sure about Oliver Stone, who hasn't done anything useful in 2000s. Also I am not a fan of Howard, he makes his films too nice and harmless, sometimes to a point where they become pointless

Braveheart alone means he's better than Spike Lee.

Spike could never direct a movie as well as braveheart was done. Never.

    Man without a Face
    Braveheart
    Apocalypto
    Passion of the Christ

Yeah, Mel is better than Spike.

Spike could never make those movies. Did you see his war movie santa Ana? Enough said.

What films of Howards do you think are too nice?
He has had some pretty depressing flicks.

Howard should get loads of credit just for giving us his daughter Bryce Howard. Very underrated actress. She was very good in Lady in the Water and The Village and more recently in Hereafter despite it being a very small role.

i mean really, how can you compare summer of sam to man w/o a face or braveheart? genre's way too distinct. 25th hour was another good one too btw.

anyways, is he going to direct the remake of oldboy? that's a bit disappointing imo. i'd rather have someone like aranofsky direct a movie like that.

You can compare directors. I actually like Spike Lee. But he isnt one of the top 5 directors as suggested.

I love Do the Right things, He Got Game, Malcom X & 25th Hour.

A few others he has done i liked. But to call him one of the top 5 directors in Hollywood is crazy.

BTW, i know about the oldboy remake. His name attached to the movie has created one of the biggest letter writing campaigns in movie history.
Fans all across the world have wrote letters to the studio, telling them to replace Lee.

How could you hate Apocalypto? That movie was the shit. And Passion of the Christ was just powerful.

Anyone ever notice that Lee is either a borderline pervert or has desires of making a porno? Look how much overly pornographic, sexually explicit or sexually implicit stuff he has in so many of his films. Like Summer of Sam, He Got Game even Santa Ana.

Never saw that one, but always thought the title sounded like a porno. So once again it proves my theory.

I agree. I was pleasantly blown away by both. I wasn't expecting much with Apocalypto but that film was very well done.

The above are either questionable or laughable. Do the right thing is a pretty important film, as dated as it looks now - there was nothing like it at the time.

    I LOATHE Tim Burton

He is all about style over substance... Kitschy, obnoxious drivel that frequently wastes the talents of Johnny Depp

    FUCK Tyler Perry!!!!!!!!

Ok, he's pretty good. But I absolutely HATED "Precious". I mean what the fuck was he trying to achieve with that film. He just reversed twenty years of blacks looking more respectable in the media and on screen with that one film.

He has the stereotype Big black woman in the ghetto who's a single mother with a big black woman as her daughter who herself is a single mother. Then it turns out that her children belong to her own father...who used to touch her since she was a baby. I mean....WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!

Tyler Perry should DIE for making that shit.:pissed:

Correction: Tyler Perry didn't write or direct that film. He was just involved in it. My bad.

Nevertheless my thoughts on that film stand.
