What are some prime examples in which a fighter becomes over-rated by way of a victory over a fighter who himself is over-rated? Cases in which over-ratedness begets more over-ratedness? It's in instances like these that the power and influence of promoters and sanctioning bodies is in full throttle, in which the chaining of bouts between over-rated fighters can severely distort a fighter's true standing in the sport.
Khan-Judah Ortiz-Berto Although I do think "overrated" is very subjective since every fighter that gets talked about is both overrated and underrated by some people.
Ortiz-Berto is exactly the instance that led me to make this topic. I was thinking about Ortiz, and how he hasn't beaten anyone of note to date, aside from Berto. And then it ocurred to me that Berto had been madly over-rated, and I realized Ortiz's credentials as a worthy opponent for PBF had been manufactured out of thin air by way of his win over Berto, who himself never beat anyone decent.
even worse than this. jose luis castillo was over rated based on losing twice to the over rated mayweather jr.
Lamon Brewster was overrated for about a minute after wlad and golota, not the best example though...same for six heads lewis after page
Sure, Berto ARGUABLY Lost, but he Got the Verdict...We've All Seen Faaaaaaaaaaaar WORSE Decisions...To Say Berto "Never Beat Anyone Decent" is an Exaggeration...@ the Absolute Worst, he Fought on EVEN Terms w/a "Decent" Fighter Named Luis Collazo... REED:hammert:
Ortiz-Berto shouldn't be in here.. Ortiz is becoming under-rated! he is a STRONG. YOUNG, Lion and at the top of his game and it will be VERY IMPRESSIVE if Floyd somehow manages to beat the young lion
