Filming on the sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s 2010 all-star action movie The Expendables is set to begin in September, and now rumors are starting to swirl about what action heavyweights will be along for the ride this time around. Shooting will be taking place in Bulgaria, and the CEO of Bulgaria-based NU Boyana studios David Varod recently dropped some huge names when listing the cast for The Expendables 2 to Novinite: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis.
We expected Stallone, Statham, Lundgren and Rourke to return, but this is the first time we’ve heard of Travolta, Norris and Vam Damme’s involvement (Stallone has been wanting Schwarzenegger and Willis to return for a while). However, just because Varod listed them off doesn’t mean all of these actors mentioned are definitely in the film. Hit the jump for more.
[IMG]While it would certainly be cool to see all of these guys together in the same movie, this casting rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. Some of the actors may simply be on a wishlist or “in talks,†and even if they do appear it could be in a cameo-type role similar to Schwarzenegger and Willis’ involvement in the first film. Nevertheless, if Stallone has assembled all those mentioned, The Expendables 2could prove to be the testosterone-fueled equivalent of New Year’s Eve.Simon West (Con Air) is directing, with the film slated for August 17th, 2012.

Bring back Van Damme's Alex in Double Impact and you got yourself a good villain.

I loved Van Damme in that role. I also loved him as a villain in No Retreat No Surrender and Black Eagle. He's much older now and the years of alcohol/drug abuse didn't help so he won't look anywhere near as good as he did in those old films but he's still got something left to make this work I think.

I enjoyed the first film. It's action packed with bunch of old school action heroes. Definitely a pop-corn movie.

Last time they also advertised Arnold and Willis and in the end there was a total of one scene that included them, and even there the two were not on screen simultaneously. Maybe this time they have two guys wearing masks that look like them

They should let somebody else direct it this time and make it look more like the action flicks of 80s, where you could actually see what was happening during fight scenes. In the first part (and also in latest Rambo) the continuous close-ups, shaking cameras and quick cutting spoiled the action

Will Chuck Norris allow the others to exist in his presence?

I think Michael Jai White or Steve Austin might be good additions.

austin was in the first one. he sucked. i agree about jai white though. he's awesome and much more talented (in terms of martial arts) than wesley snipes.

he should've won a golden globe or emmy for portraying Tyson in that hbo movie.

They should put The Rock in the next one. It helps. They can pull massive box office from the wrestling crowd too.

I guess it depends on your expectations. I didn't think it was very good either, but it was actually better than i thought it would be.

Chuck Norris ? Are you kidding me ? If Chuck Norris plays the villian in the movie Stallone will need more than Travolta and Arnie. He will need Arnie's fat mexican maid. 65 illegitimate children , Maria , Captain American the incredible Hulk , Transformers, The amazing spider man, Aunt mary uncle Ben, Forrest Gump, The box of chocelates, 300 spartans with shiny abs, Iron Man, The steel man, the aluminum man, Batman, Robin Mr.T , Mr. P, Mr.G and who the fuck knows what else to make it a fair and belivable fight.

Nice cast. Is it set in a nursing home?
