List one fellow poster that is more knowledgeable on boxing than yourself AND list one that you are more knowledgeable than they are.
"Knowledge" is Sorta VAGUE... If we're Talking Knowledge in the "HOW-TO" Sense, it's Definitely Muzse...w/Out Having to SAY it, it's OBVIOUS Dude has TRAINED Some Boxers in his Life...If we're Talking about a HISTORICAL Sense, REED Would Go w/C-Doggy Dogg...If we're Talking about the BUSINESS Side of Boxing, it's Clearly Jake... REED:mj:
As for those that REED has MORE Knowledge than, it's Toooooooooo Many to List...REED's Already Listed 3 Posters that ADMITTEDLY Know Aspects of Boxing BETTER than he Does, but REED Seriously DOUBTS he Could Compile a List of 5 or 10 Posters... Muzse, C-Dogg, Jake > REED REED > the Rest of Fightbeat REED:dancingBaby:
I'm big on historical knowledge. I've sparred, but no amateur boxing matches. I don't know much about the business side of things. I'm not interested in saying who I know more than, but Donny, Jake, Reed, Muzse, and a few others have shown me they know more than I do overall about boxing.
Jake knows more about the business than anyone and his knowledge of the sport is also tremendous Donnybrook was great broadwayjoe knows a lot as well, especially about the heavyweights in the 70s and 80s Some people here seem unwilling to acknowledge REED's knowledge, I think because of his style (which I enjoy) but I have had many great conversations with him Ramonza knows his stuff, even though he can't bring himself to pick against Jim Jeffries LOL there are many great posters and some terrible ones, too Hut is a great poster
As mentioned, guys like cdogg, Jake and Ramone are great boxing sources. I know more than Buddy Rydell. And way more that Musze, who honestly doesn't know anything about boxing.
Those that favour pre-90s fighters in matchups are seen as more knowledgeable than the others. Those that nuthug black and white era fighters are seen as more knowledgeable still. So we wont get anywhere, honestly. Having said that I respect the boxing knowledge (historical) of Xplosive, Cdogg, Ramonza. Jake RULES in terms of the business side of the sport Muzse is very good at the mechanics of the game (but exceedingly biased unfortunately)
The only people I beat in boxing knowledge are guys like PetreTG and Alabama Man that don't even post anymore. :dunno:
Being the Grumpy Ol' Fart that he Is, Muzse Gets Caught Up in HATING on Fighters Tooo Often, but if Any Fightbeater Could Take a Kid Off the Street & TEACH him How to Box, it'd B Muzse...Muzse Isn't Much of a Fight Handicapper, but in the "How To" Sense, his Boxing Knowledge is SUPERB... REED:dancingBaby:
You don't have to beg, and we're all proud of how far you've come, but I do expect you to have those Fightbeat toilets cleaned before you take off your uniform and clock out today, young man.
When it comes to British "never-weres", there is NOBODY on this site more knowledgeable than me, bitches!
Many, many people here are more knowledgeable than me. I feel like I have a decent ability to contextualise what knowledge I do have, maybe better than some folk, maybe not. Fightbeat is knowledgeable enough for me to learn the occasional thing & don't have to trawl through too much stupidity but not so knowledgable that I have nothing to say (which I feel like Eastside & nobsboxing are sometimes). So it's nice. You're nice fightbeat, I like your socks, they're kooky.
if we're just going on fight's seen and knowledge of the sport in general, my brother is by far the most knowledgable on here, I have no idea how he's seen half the fights he has. I'm sure I've seen more and know more than haymaker, but thats like picking on the slow kid. btw all these old time lovers are not knowledgable, we've all seen the footage available on Jersey Joe Walcott, the guy just sucked. If talking up shitty fighters was a precursor for knowledge, then banjo string mcgee would be the winner for his junior witter love
maybe i need to get off my klitschko schtick and back to randy shields would beat victor ortiz in 4 rounds. :crafty: more knowledgeable: nomad:bow:, REED, steve_dave less knowledgeable: hard to say i will admit my historical knowledge of the game is grossly underrated due to the fact that i favor modern fighters/dont post alot.
There's definitely a strong strand of pretentiousness in the old timer scene (i don't mean on here necessarily). Kinda like people who'll only admit to liking bands or movies you've never heard of. But not seeing what made Wallcot so effective as a fighter exposes your missing allot of whats going on in a boxing ring, brahhhhhhhhh.
See I think we're crossing over on topics here. If we're talking just pure knowledge and encyclopedic knowledge of watching fights, then people like REED and Double L shit on me. If we're talking about an ability to analyze fighters and see whats going on or whats going to happen, *Z* and winnerbychoke are the only people whose opinion are comparable to mine. But I dont think thats boxing knowledge, thats just being reasonable and being able to see whats going on. Example, RJJ's chin sucks. It has always sucked. The RJJ lovers on this board argued this point for years, claiming "anyone woulda been dropped by del valle" blah blah blah...No guys, RJJ just has a chin of tissue paper. Seeing that has nothing to do with boxing knowledge.
Sure. But at the same time, it's also totally unknowable, so getting attached to an opinion either way's basically wrong (and also very, very annoying (not directed at you)).
Exactly. Like these fucking cunts that wont rate Ali in their top 10 all time, for example, instead placing guys like Benny Leonard, Sam Langford and Jimmy Wilde ahead of him because they know that the general populace hasn't heard of these black and white era fuckers..
Then you get people who go the other way & watch Joe Wallcott and think he sucks because he fought using different technical means than guys today..... One is self deception & pretension, one is ignorance.
