agREED... Like Roy Jones, Fedor's Gone from Being Virtually UNBEATABLE to the Point where just about ANYBODY Could BEAT him... REED:34:
Rampage was Pretty Successful when he 1st Came to UFC...& Even Though he's INCONSISTENT These Days, he HASN'T Taken the Type of SEVERE Asswhippings that Fedor, Nog or Cro Cop have... REED:hammert:
that's a really dumb thing to say. former pride fighters won the championship in every weight class except lw. Tough they probably were on the gear, as are most UFC guys
Is Chuck Liddell a pride fighter too? He's had as many fights in Pride as Anderson. GSP never fought in Pride. Wasn't Nog only an interim Champ? I'm not saying they had no success, but they have not had close to the success you would think based on how highly rated a lot of these guys were. I'm no hater, I liked pride.
Nah Liddell was a UFC fighter that was lend (sp) to pride . Completely different situation than Anderson silva true about the ww, forgot about it. The thing is most of these guys are pretty old, and were beaten by competition that wasn't there when pride existed. Not to mention that Dan Henderson has a fuckload of success recently
CONTEXT, Homegirl, CONTEXT... The POINT is, Rampage DOESN'T Seem as "Shot" as Some of the Other Former Pride Fighters that Z Noted...He's LOST Fights Since Leaving Pride, but NOT in the Fashion that Fedor has Lost... ...Not Even Close... REED:mj:
And yet, despite people literally turning over with both hands on their ears and their eyes closed at the idea, a lot of that probably has to do with competition and skill level then any perceived "shotness". And that goes for any PRIDE fighter....Cro Cop, Gomi, KID...you name em. The only PRIDE guys that IMO actually get a pass are Wanderlei Silva who was clearly on the decline when he came into the UFC. I don't think he was totally shot after the brutal KO by Henderson, but the three round war with Chuck definitely took the last of what Wandy had to offer. Then the also insanely brutal KO at the hands of Rampage pretty much completely finished him. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria who was far from shot when he entered, but was on the decline. He was able to be the scrub Sylvia but then injuries piled up and he turned in one of the most shot performances of all time against Mir. I can't even name a fight where a guy has looked more shot than Big Nog did in that fight, he looked like a zombie from Resident Evil. Everyone else doesn't have a leg to stand on IMO. Especially Fedor, who while he's been on the decline in the last few years, his losses are probably just as easily due to him fighting the best fighters he's fought in 5 or 6 years than it is any "shotness". Hell, a guy like Antonio Silva probably is just better than Fedor....especially considering Fedor ripped off a fighter who was essentially a small LHW version of Bigfoot in Ricardo Arona.......so basically, imagine the Arona fight again, but instead Arona is 6'4 270lbs with ferocious ground and pound....Fedor still gets stopped.
I wouldn't put Fedor on quite the same level of dominance as Roy Jones.. but you have to keep in mind that although Fedor's best wins may be Nog and Cropcop, he hailed in the UFC heavyweight era dominated by Arlovski and Sylvia, both of whom he annihilated with ease when they were all already on the down slope. He's not from the 'new' era, so he won't be the top guy anymore today, but for his time and his competition, he was as dominant as they come.
Dana has even gone on record saying Fedor was definitely the best in 2005. He admitted his HW division when AA and Sylvia were passing around the belts was complete shit. That said, he's also right when he said Fedor has done absolutely nothing since then.
The stoppage is a tricky one. He was out, then he recovered :: Herb Dean did the right thing, when he waved it off, Fedor was out, it just so happened he recovered RIGHT after that, which makes it look bad.
Agreed. If he fought a total can there would talk about how "he's got it back!" That would be even if Fedor struggled. I don't want intentionally try to draw paralells with boxing but i think this case is more similar to Tyson than Roy Jones.
The weird thing is, Fedor is early 30's and hasn't taken much punishment. But age doesn't really mean much, so many fighters these days still look relatively fresh in their late 30's, and you still get guys that are well past prime in their early 30's. It's plain to see Fedor is pretty much done, and not even close to what he once was.
Testosterone replacement therapy. He has low testosterone levels, either because that is what happens as you get older, or he did enough steroids in the past that he cannot naturally produce a normal level of testosterone. TRT is the latest and greatest thing in MMA. I'm going to do some searching and see if I can find out if any boxers are using this "treatment" It's what got Chael Sonnen suspended. He did not get clearance and tested well above the normal level. Nate Marquart just got fired for also not getting proper clearance and pulling out of a fight before he could be tested. Henderson is on it, and I have heard but not confirmed that Couture was also using it.
I can't find anything about any boxers using it, the same guys names just keep coming up. Todd Dufee, Dan Henderson, Marquartd and Sonnen.
