With each passing day Pac and Floyd are getting older so even if the fight takes place in 2012 which it won't they would be basically in their mid thirties by then. The saying goes better late then never but what are some of the fights that were great match ups but took to long to make or just took place past participant' primes.

Barrera-Marquez would have been better earlier.

Hopkins-Wright would've been better a couple years earlier at 160.

Nelson-Fenech 3. Well if you absolutely had to have a third bout at all, it should've been about 16 or so years earlier.

no, just don't think they qualify as we've seen the 1st fight when both were in theyr primes . Some exceoption might qualify tough (jones-hopkins, for example, as both were not in theyr primes, or chavez taylor given the contoversila ending) . didn't meant to single you out specifically.

    fair enough, no worries

I just think they were good examples because they would have been enormously anticipated

Not that it means sh*t but wasn't Tyson the champion going into the Holyfield fight whereas Holyfield was presumed dead?

A little more obscure than some of the others listed here but...

Curtis Parker TKO3 Frank "The Animal" Fletcher

Parker and Fletcher were both contenders at the same time, were both all action & defensively deficient fighters, both were TV favorites and both were Philly fighters. To me, it seemed like a perfect match-up for a Saturday afternoon in the early 80's, but it didn't happen when both until a few years later when both were finished as contenders. It's too bad, because I always thought this would have been a great fight.

Ricardo Lopez - Ratanapol Sor Vorapin - No excuse whatsoever for this fight never taking place at strawweight considering how long both served as titleholders (and at the same time, no less).

Felix Trinidad - Pernell Whitaker - Could've declared welterweight supremacy in the mid 90's. Instead, became a high profile showcase for Tito.
