I was just thinking about De La Hoya's resume and it got me thinking which world champion has the most big names on a resume ?? ( just names. Doesn't have to be wins) De La Hoya's is pretty ridiculous I mean Whitaker Chavez Trinidad Quatrey Mosley Vargas Pacquiao Hopkins Mayweather And that's just off the top of my head.
Muhammad Ali Archie Moore Sonny Liston (2x) Floyd Patterson (2x) George Chuvalo (2x) Jerry Quarry (2x) Oscar Bonavena Joe Frazier (3x) Jimmy Ellis Bob Foster Ken Norton (3x) George Foreman Ron Lyle Earnie Shavers Larry Holmes Trevor Berbick & REED Left Off Pretty DECENT Guys like Ernie Terrell, Zora Folley, Doug Jones, Cleveland Williams & a Couple Others... REED:mj:
Considering he Only had 40 Fights Total, Ray Leonard's Resume is Pretty REMARKABLE as Well... Wilfred Benitez Roberto Duran (3x) Ayub Kalule Thomas Hearns (2x) Marvin Hagler Donny LaLonde Terry Norris Hector Camacho N Addition to that, Leonard Fought Some Tough Guys on the Way Up like Pete Ranzany & Marcos Geraldo, Not to Mention Whipping Floyd Sr. & Mickey Ward's Older Brother... REED:mj:
For active fighters, Pacquiao: -Barrera X2 -Morales X3 -Marquez X2 -ODLH -Hatton -Mosley -Cotto -Margarito
Whitaker did well for about forty fights. Trinidad Hurtado Rivera (x2) McGirt (x2) Vasquez Chavez De La Hoya Ramirez (x2) Mayweather Im sure Im missing a few.
How about Duran? Buchanon, DeJesus x3, Palomino, Leonard x3, Benitez, Moore, Cuevas, Hagler, Hearns, Barkley, Camacho x2, Castro x2, Joppy,...and Pazienza x2. Damn!!!!!
Does Ezz Charles win this? Maybe not quite, but hes got to go close. I see people mentioning Duran, for instance, and his CV doesnt honestly stack up to Charles'. That shouldnt even be in dispute, IMO --- & considering how fine Durans record is, that speaks volumes of Charles to me.
Evan Holyfield Mike Tyson x2 George Foreman Larry Holmes Dwight Muhammad Qawi Lummox Lewis x2 Michael Dokes Pinklon Thomas Buster Douglas Michael Moorer x2 Riddick Bowe x3 Bobby Czyz John Ruiz x3 Carlos De Leon Hasim Rahman James Toney Ray Mercer
In his last six fights, the Fighting Farmer is: Pascal W Taylor W Dirrell W Kessler L Abraham W Johnson W and his next fight is with Ward. Arguably the best resume of any British fighter bar Lennox in the last fifty years. MTF
Why would I? I dont respect your opinions anyway. Youre classically-trained in the school of thought based on familiarity. Youre more familhar with Duran than Charles, youre more familiar with Durans rivals than Charles', & thats the end of that for you. I take it just as it should be taken, dont fret - with a grain of salt.
Neither accurate, nor relevant. Youre not alone, Neil. I scratch my head (or shake it at the meaningless expressions of bitterness) at most of your offerings.
The only thing you don't respect is common sense and an ounce of analytical talent. I'm gonna make my suspicion public, but I'd say its altogether possible that you are a dumber human than REED. I know, thats hard for me to even imagine, but even REED occasionally copies from a wikipedia article with some substance in it. Maybe you can tell me all about how interesting Jersey Shore, Nancy Grace, and Steve Wilkos live are, cause I'm beginning to see how shows catering to Forrest Gump are mainstream.
if we're going by names alone, then fritzie zivic easily tops this list. beau jack jake lamotta ray robinson henry armstrong charley burley lou ambers billy conn and he's fought most of these guys more than twice.
Ezzard Charles is up there for sure How about Emile Griffith? he literally fought everybody and beat the lion's share, many of them 2 or 3 times Griffith: Gaspar Ortega (x3), Denny Moyer(x3), Jorge Fernandez(x2), Florentino Fernandez, Luis Rodriguez(x4), Benny Paret(x3), Ralph Dupas(x2), Jose Gonzalez, Don Fullmer, Dick Tiger(x2), Joey Archer(x2), Nino Benvenuti(x3), Gypsy Joe Harris, Kitten Hayward(x2), Jose Napoles, Tom Bogs, Indian Red Lopez, Carlos Monzon(x2), Mando Muniz, Tony Mundine, Bennie Briscoe(x2), Vito Antuofermo, Eckhard Dagge, Alan Minter Utterly amazing resume, I can't think of any great fighter more consistently put in there with top flight opposition and he won a lot more than he lost, and he usually lost competetively
I don't know if I'd say Charles' resume is unquestionably better than Duran's purely in terms of names, but there's definitely a good argument for it. Charles also beat most of the legends on his resume.
Neil you dumb retarded fuck i clearly said names on resumw not necessarily wins. Most top names on a champion's resume. Learn to read you fag.
If you get dominated by every big name then sure. Otherwise no. A big list of great names shows that a guy was seeking out big fights win or lose.
Marvis Frazier fought both Tyson and Holmes, the two dominant Heavyweights of the 80s. Wooo Hoooo...what a brave motherfucker!
Look at the thread title again. It's CHAMPIONS with the most big names on their resumes. It's not guys who were fed to the lions, but had choices in who they fought.
Anyway Ali...GOAT. Just look at this list of former current or future chamions that he fought: Liston, Patterson, Ellis, Terrell, Frazier, Norton, Foreman, Holmes, Spinks, Berbick, moore, Foster Not to mention: Quarry, Chuvalo, Shavers, Lyle, Young, Cooper, Bonavena
fair enough. But the Frazier point just illustrates that names on the resume alone aren't that meaningful.
