hardly. its the worst news for boxing all year. i demand a refund! this bout was a guaranteed war, whether or not morales won he wouldve certainly competed and delivered another battle
This sadly is the normal procedure with a great ppv undercard bout. It would be great if they could make Maidana-Morales 2.
nevermind stevemaxboxing Steve Kim Told that Maidana wasa offered to fill in next week vs Morales, but he declined and stuck with his show the week after #boxing :dunno::dunno:
Katsidis would be great, he had a blowout less than a fortnight ago, is usually in shape...Kotelnik (could be dull), Alvarado (would be fun but is top rank, and fought five weeks ago),
Kotelnik would beat Morales and yes, it would be dull........Morales doesn't need a dull 12 round defeat, he needs the sort of fight that might guarantee him some sort of a pay-day again. I wouldn't be surprised if Gavin Rees or the like was flown in.
Its just bad luck, even when boxing makes a move in the positive direction, it cant catch a break recently
Morales vs anyone these days is not a ppv fight. This isn't a big loss...it's like an espn2 main event canceling. Maidana is not a last week fill in fighter. I am confident he would have taken this fight if offered with say 3 weeks to prepare.
maidana took a fight on sep 23 because he didnt wanna waste a 12 week camp. makes no sense why he passed on this opportunity unless it is money related.
Can't believe that nobody's pointed out the obvious, that Matthyse is scared of El Terrible. Can you really blame him?
it might be money related either in purse or maybe with a buyout of the current opponent (Petrov), but I just think dicking around with a new opponent with only a week's notice is not something a pro fighter of Maidana's status should agree to. I would assume that his training was adjusted to let him peak on Sept 23 and wherever he was at when the Morales fight was offered was not where he should have been in his training.
There is more boxing on non-ppv tv in the usa now than there ever has been. The only possible exception might be at times during the 00's. But whine away if you must.
Problem is if you've actually heard of the guys fighting chances it's on PPV or at the very least a paid subscription channel.
