Make sure you get the prelims too Trplsec, this is probably the best prelim card ever, regardless of organization. Mein vs Santos, Rogerio De Lima debuts(remember by report on him) vs Mike Kyle, Yoel Romero Palacio is a complete freak of nature and many people think this guy could be outrageous in a short period of time....he's debuting against a guy who just had the title a fight ago in Feijao. Maximo Blanco is a super elite LW prospect too debuting against a tough guy like Healy which is an underrated main card opener.
wtf TLC, all your "prospects" got fucking destroyed. One of these "prospects" is like 35 years old. Where do you find these guys?
Damn, I gotta admit I was impressed with Cormier. I was one of those fans that thought he should be fighting at 205. But damn he fucked up that monster headed fool. And I loved seeing Roger Gracie get laid out by King Mo. Great night of fights.
Same place ZUFFA finds them. I wasn't really surprised at any of the results outside of Rogerio looking like shit and losing to Kyle....that was fucking weird. First off, he looked much fatter than what I saw from him earlier, and he just looked out of sorts and tentative. This guy has a complete arsenal of techniques and barely did shit outside of a right leg kick. Mein impressed big time over Santos, he was a fun prospect to watch because he's so experienced and he was so under the radar. Really came out of nowhere on the prospect scene. Started fighting when he was a minor and quietly has been improving dramatically. Still only 21 which is ridiculous considering he's been around for ever it seems. Romero has got all the freakish athletic gifts he's built up to have, but none of the technical mastery it takes to compete at this level. Guy is in serious need of a high level camp and some serious MMA orientated striking coaches. Definitely not a surprise that he lost though, Feijao is already a peaked fighter and is a damned good one at the B level...not an easy guy for an inexperienced guy like Romero. Blanco losing to Healy, again wasn't a total surprise with Healy being a pretty damn good fighter, what WAS surprising was how utterly undersized Blanco looked compared to Healy. Blanco probably needs to move to 145...but he's still an elite prospects who's only getting better. Fast forward a good 3, 4 years when he's in his early 30s and he should be a to 15 FW easily.
Cormier is decent. Say what you want but he has a great(not really good) base in wrestling and is learning standup at a great stand up camp. Tons of potential for this guy.
I loved it when Cormier said, postfight, that he trains with Cain Velasquez and Big Foot is no Cain Velasquez. And by the way, I hope he destroys Barnett. I absolutely loathe that smarmy, juicing piece of shit.
Yes? Cormier surprised me. Definitely looked a lot better than he did against the likes of Devin Cole just two fights ago....but MMA is strange like that...he seems pretty committed to his boxing. I thought the fight would be a grappling contest, but he flat out just crushed Bigfoot, who doesn't move his head and gets punched in the jaw constantly.
i wonder if barnett's 'catch wrestling' will work against a wrestler like cormier. i'm still going w/ experience though. barnett's a tricky guy and has more tools.
Barnett won't be easy to get down, his striking and chin are better than Bogfoots. It's going to be a tough one for both guys. I thought Barnett had this thing in the bag before Overeem pulled out, I had no doubt Barnett would beat Overeem.
