The highlight of my Saturday night.

Skip to the 4:50 mark for the fight.

Jesus christ, that guy started MMA at 36, he's now 40 and he's 10-0?

    Yeah? What's surprising?

    1: He's Cuban, and didn't and couldn't start a career until late.

2: Even at his age, he's still an extraordinary athlete with boxing and wrestling experience.

    and

3: He's mostly fought bums at 125..which has the last fighters in any division in MMA.....oh and now Joe Warren, who pretty much has the same career track as him, except significantly less naturally athletic and coordinated.....

What would be strange is if this guy went to the UFC and outclassed Cruz.

Do you really have to ask what's surprising? Really?

Perhaps the fact that taking up MMA at age 36 is fairly unusual, let alone amassing a 10-0 record between the ages of 36 and 40, scrubs or not.

I've seen Cuban boxers do the same thing....maybe not as late as 36 but certainly in their 30s.

And quite frankly, there isn't a lower grade of fighter than the low-level regional show Flyweight. Any outstanding athlete coming from a serious wrestling base can wreck people. Hell, Ramba Somdete is 40 or something as well and came from a MUAY THAI base(yes, he did the unthinkable and dominated a division without a grappling base) and he beats the shit out of all of those guys at 115.

LOL.. Yeah and Somdete, who is only 37, started fighting MMA professionally when he was 27 and lost 2 of his first 3 against absolute nobodies.

Meanwhile, Vila had his first MMA fight when he was 37 and is 11-0 at age 40 having just knocked Bellator's 145 pound champion out cold.

Stellar comparison by our resident contrarian. So, just to hammer home the point, please show the list of former Cuban boxers that started MMA in their mid to late 30's and ran off 11-0 records. That should be easy because you've seen Cuban boxer(s) do the 'same thing'. Right?

    Let's see the list.

Cuban boxers, in boxing. There goes that reading thing again, but that's no surprise.

As far as M16 goes, he dabbled in MMA and went 1-2 then came back at 32 year old and beat up some decent 25lbers.

Also, exceptionally strange how Darren Uyenoyama is an "absolute nobody" when he is probably better than anyone Vila has faced.

You might want to check your own writing capacity.

You said "I've seen Cuban boxers do the same thing."

The "same thing" as it applies to your response to MWS directly refers to taking up MMA at age 36 and going 11-0. Learn to read and fully comprehend before responding.

As is usually the case, in your heat to contradict someone in order to basically scream "look how smart I am", you end up looking like a total idiot.

    Typical.

Yes because when I refer to Cuban boxers, I obviously wouldn't be talking about the sport of boxing. That's a complete non-sequitur.

    You try too hard.

Dude, it's easy to understand. Really, take a little time and read before immediately trying to contradict. Just try.. LOL..

Your ridiculous response: I've seen Cuban boxers do the same thing....maybe not as late as 36 but certainly in their 30s.

:atu: Spin it now if you like but it was moronic. Period.:Wah:
