Calzaghe could edge Hopkins, could he take Bobby the sheriff?

This fight would cause me to orgasm, I'm certain of it

No, Jazzercising does not work against Bob Foster

Foster controls this with his jab... when Calzaghe is in range, Foster stings him with a right just to remind him of how easily he will die if he tries to get brave... consequently, the fitness instructor is forced to eat jabs and survive... that's his only hope, he can't outbox this man, he cannot trade with him

I would hope that Calslappy would try to force the pace, just so he can get decapitated by a left hook

For what it's worth, Calzaghe doesn't even register at the top end of LHW's for me. His entire body of work there consists of one very good win (which has been denigrated round here) and a complete sham against a near dead RJJ.

At 168, I'd pick a prime RJJ to beat him but not many more. He's a clear ATG at that weight. At 175, however, he's not even the best British fighter to have campaigned there. John Conteh would have sparked him IMO.

Maybe, but honestly, who do you think beats him at 168? Bar RJJ?

Mikkel is my 2nd favorite current fighter...... but Foster would have destroyed him.

And its not even worth discussing what Foster would have done to Lacy.

To me he was a receding skinny punk with a left hook. I don't care for him or his silly style of fighting. Great fighter though.

He had a fabulous right hand, as well and one of the best jabs ever by anybody

on top of that, he was mean and brutal

There has never been a 175 pound fighter I would bet money on against him... there are 2 or 3 that MIGHT beat him, but no one I would pick with any confidence... he was, quite simply, devastating

All you say may be true..

You must admit though that the way he leaned forward and threw out a silly looking jab was annyoing to watch. I hated his style...it completely lacked any asthetic qualities.

It was damned effective, he was not easy to hit... and the price to be paid for getting close was stunning... I think his jab was about as beautiful as it gets though

One of my favourite fights was seeing Ali clown around, and drop him repeatedly.

Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Dick Tiger, James Toney, etc among those who actually fought at the weight (many more guys I'd give a fair pop) plus a whole bunch of light heavyweights under the weigh in rules Calzaghe fought under and a whole bunch of middleweights if Calzaghe fights under old weigh in rules. Plus a prime Bernard Hopkins.

I'd give Andre Ward about a 50/50 shot, too.
