Say what you want about Margarito being a cheat, but there is no denying that he has a ridiculous chin and incredible will power. The beating he took from Cotto in the first fight and from Mosley before finally succumbing and from Pacquaio while still coming forward was just out of this world. He continues to press where most would fold. With that said I'll be rooting for Cotto who seems like a genuinely good guy; the complete opposite of Margarito.
I disagree. Cotto wins this fight by staying on his bicycle. He shouldn't even attempt to try to knock margarito out: to the body or otherwise.
Yes he can. Cotto can box. Margarito is a face first predictable dummy. If Cotto engages he risked getting tagged on his fragile chin.
Margarito doens't have one punch power(Even with his block wraps). He can take a few risks. With Margarito probalby not fully recovered from that fractured eye socket, he's the one who could have problems in this fight going the distance.
I think people are being too hard on Max. The opposite extreme, in which the guy barely follows the sport, and couldn't care less about the match-ups except to do his job, is far worse. I don't agree with his particular preferences when it comes to styles and personalities, and I do think he's biased in the sense he favors American fighters. And I don't appreciate his efforts to rationalize bad decisions, implying that fighters by virtue of their market value are somehow entitled to close decisions. But I like that he's genuinely excited by the sport and the prospect of good match-ups. And I appreciate his ability to draw general lessons about life and society from boxing. Maybe it's embarrassing for some of you. But if that's the case, I challenge you to examine the reason for this, and why this commentator, by way of expressing his passion for boxing, gets under your skin and makes you want to beat him up.
I think he could but I also don't think he has to. The way to beat iron chinned Latino's is by going to the body. Mosley made a career out of doing that and he already laid the blue print to beating Margarito. Also, I think given how much he's aged both physically and with the beatings he's taken, Margarito isn't going to be able to absorb the same amount of damage he has in the past. So Cotto should be able to stop him. I actually think Cotto is better off not having Steward in his corner, and Cotto better be moving his head a lot in this one.
You guys think going to the body is just so fucking easy. Cotto is a master at going to the body and he had a hard time doing it with Margarito.
Yep. If you don't have reach, you really have to put yourself into harms way to dig to the body. Especially against a guy like Margarito who likes throwing uppercuts.
Never said it would be easy, just that that's what he needs to do. You know you're not going to KO the guy hitting him in the face, so...

I hope he has that tearful bullied anger on the night in question. Did you ever see a kid just snap and hit a guy who is pushing him around? Fucker generates mad power. I hope Cotto wins this big. I usually don't give a fuck for these types of things but short of Wlad losing to Haye, I couldn't hope less for a Cotto loss. I really want him to pull this one out.
"We're both part of the same hypocrisy senator" That was cheat vs champ fight wasn't it?.. That poster was a great encapsulation as to why I wish boxing a fatal ko. :truce:
What was that? The Godfather? "SENATAH!!! SENATAH!!! AN APOLOGY SENATAH!!! Sit down you dumb Kraut-Mick. They never did explain what happened to Hagan. We just saw Michael die while peeling an orange. He nearly fell on a puppy.:laugh11: Yes, Pac cheats like the Fed, Margarito needs to get down with that sort of way of doing things. If ya gonna cheat, CHEAT BIG BABY.
