Manny Pacquiao doesn't think so. :giggle:

Marquez performed better against Pac than did the GREAT Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Hatton, Mosley and all these names (sans Mosley) that y'all said that Floyd ducked. "Money" made it look easy.

Give Floyd his props: POUND FOR POUND baby! :bears:

It was a much better Marquez than turned up tonight than against Floyd, but yeah I still think he has no business at welterweight.

I think Cotto would beat the 142 pound Marquez clearer than Pacquiao did tonight, yet Cotto got hammered by Pacquiao.

    Marquez is basically Pacman's bogeyman.

so, I assume you now regard Floyd fighting Pac as a meaningless excercise, correct?

I fully expect than when the fight happens (assuming it does) ... if Floyd wins, you will regard as an unimportant victory over an irrelevant, overmatched opponent

Marquez would beat Cotto. Cotto is OVERRATED.

Nobody overrates Cotto. He is what he is. A very solid boxer/puncher. That being said, I agree with you, Marquez would outbox Cotto.

I saw it. Just got back from the bar. I feel like needling a few people.

People saying that in Marquez, Mayweather fought a soft touch...well this soft touch just looked to have beaten the supposed P4P # 1.

Styles or not...a "soft touch" is never competitive with a P4P # 1.

Marquez vs Cotto would have to be billed as "The Bi-sexual Brawl".

This time Marquez seemed actually bulk up to welterweight and his opponent didn't commit a bitch move by not even trying to meet the weight limit they had agreed on. Just sayin

It's quite clear-cut. There was no BS with the weights, Marquez had NO conditioning at the higher weight when he fought Floyd and was fucked-over with the weight, he had the benefit of the same chemicals Pac is on, and he is naturally and uniquely stylistically challenging to/for Pac.

That's what it comes down to.

The Floyd camp can toss what they want, but thats what it boils down to.

First of all, this was at 143, not welter. Second of all Marquez was ripped at 143 this time and was fat against Floyd.

Floyd still gets no props from me.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

Cotto beats Marquez. The fact that Marquez gives Pac trouble each time they meet doesn't mean that by default he can beat the guys that Pac has beaten or that the Floyd fight is suddenly unneeded.

Yep. Stafford loves to hide behind how the "Triangle theory" (usually Ali-Foreman-Frazier) doesn't work when it suits him....but apparently the Triangle theory DOES work for Pac-Marquez-Mayweather.

Can't say that I am surprised.

I didn't even want JMM to be at 140 but now I think he can compete at 140 with Bradley and Khan.

I don't want him at 147 though. He would be competitive but come up short in most fights.

I think he'll fight Morales for his belt at 140 sometime next year.

So on the strength that out of all their common opponents PBF finally did better than Manny against one of them, shall we now add Manny to PBF's hypotheical resume ?

Considering he bulked up properly and put a fair whack of muscle on for Pac it's possible that losing it again to get back to lightweight again might be detrimental
