OK rather than the endless Pacquiao Floyd or even Pacquiao Marquez talks, how about Floyd Vs someone else?

Floyd Vs someone who would be arguably a bigger challenge than anyone else he's fought?

I have a feeling opinion would be divided about this, people are fairly divided about Martinez's ability.

Would Floyd be too crafty and slick and outbox Martinez? (As even Darren Barker did in parts of their fight), or would Martinez simply be too big and strong and either KO Floyd, or discourage Floyd so much that he loses rounds from lack of activity?

Also, who do you think he'll fight in May? Khan? Ortiz again?

EDIT - This hypothetical matchup is at 154, a weight Floyd has fought at, and a weight Martinez would possibly be a bit drained at.

    Floyd.

If the Pac fight doesn't materialize here's my prediction:

Floyd fights the Cotto-Margarito winner and then fights Martinez.

he stops the Floyd-Marg winner and decisions Martinez.

martinez should be able to push floyd around. on top of that his fluid movement and southpaw stance will give him fits. imagine if martinez just moves around and pecks with jabs. that alone would be a lot for floyd to handle considering the size disparity.

Martinez may be too much for Floyd or Pacquiao. He's quick, has very good stamina and has the power to KO Middleweights.

    Santa Claus wins.

Santa has as much of a chance as getting a fight made with Floyd as martinez.

    This is why?

Pacquiao is his cash cow. Why risk him being defeated?

Does anybody really think Floyd would fight Martinez before he hits 40? :notallthere:

...........Martinez has also made it clear he's not going below 154.

I don't think it's reasonable to demand Floyd fight middleweights

Well, I'm sure Martinez would accept the fight at 154, in fact I guarantee he would, even if he was a bit drained.

That's only 1 division up and a weight Floyd has already fought at.

Sergio would pack a whole lot of weight back on after weigh in....more than 1 weight size difference in the ring, I think

Also I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Floyd won a decision just by being ridiculously defensive and crafty and outboxing Martinez, but I would pick Martinez.

I'm not sure he'd KO Floyd, but I think he'd make Floyd a bit TOO defensive to win a decision, mainly due to power/strength, plus his speed and southpawness would certainly allow him to land on Floyd if Floyd did take any risks.

Mayweather by decision I guess, but it's a moot point.

    He's beating up Khan next.

Also Hut, I agree that it shouldn't be EXPECTED of him, but to be honest I'd like to see him challenge himself, win or lose. His 147 run has been pathetic.

I'd think Martinez is a natural 154 pounder, and not massively bigger than Oscar.

Fighting Khan is a big mistake. Khan hasn't proven anything yet..Floyd has nothing to gain.

Let Khan fight Marg or Cotto and win and then Floyd can fight him.

I'd pick Martinez based on size. But Sergio's a spurt fighter.... so it's possible Floyd would be winning the rounds where nothing is happening.

Know what I mean? I think all the big moments would be Martinez, but it's possible it would be one of those fights where the actually round by round is a lot closer.

Based on the Barker fight I would be inclined to pick Floyd, the thing is, Barker is a decent sized natural middleweight, who actually walked Martinez down for most of the fight, behind a high guard.

Floyd is too small to do that.

But yeah, I could certainly imagine slow rounds going Floyd's way, he'd be landing the sharper, more accurate shots and probably controlling the pace etc.

Only thing is, I imagine Martinez's size and power could be a factor in making Floyd do too little, and being too negative, which is why I would tentatively pick Martinez.

Even against Pavlik and Williams (first fight)... and to a lesser extent, Cintron (after he was robbed of the KO) he was fighting in spurts.

I, too, would tentatively pick Martinez.

I always thought Pacquiao should move up to 160 to fight Martinez for the legit middleweight championship. If he pulled it off somehow he'd be top-5 all-time easily.

    It depends on the weight
EDIT: Actually, at 154, I'd favor PBF

Honestly not interested in any Martinez fight that doesn't take place at 160 for the middleweight championship.

Well the Williams re-match was at 158, and Martinez delivered his best performance.

Still, I agree with you, it should be at 160

Martinez is nothing special, but he's big enough and fast enough to beat Mayweather for sure

I'm mildly surprised Floyd is edging this poll, I figured a few more people would think Martinez was simply too big.

At 154 it's kind of close to a pick for me though, so the poll makes sense. At 160 you'd have to be more confident of a Martinez victory, at 154 he's probably weakened enough to give Floyd a good chance.

Incidentally how the FUCK is Tyson Fury only 22 or 23? How?

Look at him in that pic above, he looks about 38.
