I asked him what he thought about the Burns performance vs Katsidis and asked whether he'd be able to beat Burns.

    His response...

"I'm more vicious and will find the gaps something KAT couldn't do"

    It's a fight I want to see.

I'd watch. I'd support my good Glasgow irish brother Ricky Burns. Met him once with a girl I know. She said she thought he didn't look like a 'real boxer like Tyson' and she could 'kick his cunt in'. He laughed, she said she was serious 'you can box but I can fight like fuck, there's a difference'. She's from the Drum, I wouldn't rule it out. Ricky seemed brand new, wish I'd got a picture.

    be a great fight.

Kevin Mitchell is a dick. This is why I'm not cockney, listen to DeGale and Groves, they sound like well spoken chaps. Proper West London. Listen to Kevin Mitchell and he sounds like a crayon munching spastic. Fucking East London, hate it.

She wasn't really being cheeky, just funny. She'll talk to anyone and be on personal terms within about 5 seconds, I've never known anything like it.

I think she semi-believed it though. Yeah The Drum = Drumchappel. Google image would probably give you the gist.

Yeah, looks pretty fucking nasty

I must say though in my experience, background is pretty meaningless in the realm of toughness etc.

I've grown up partly in rough areas (South East London) and partly in very middle class areas (Brighton).

You get some people who've had a rough upbringing who are complete and utter pussies, and some middle class people from privileged homes who are tough/brave/mental.

A good example of that kind of thing in boxing is Calzaghe and Freitas. Despite Freitas's rough upbringing, he's 10 times more of a pussy than Calzaghe.

In terms of (fair) one on one fighting? Pretty much meaningless, but in EVERYTHING surrounding that, it means quite allot. Folk from rough areas can usually talk their way in and out of things, judge people real quick, know when to act preemptively to fuck somebody up or psyche somebody out if they have to. Go from 0-60 in a moment if they have to....that's 'toughness' to me. Street smarts I guess. Knowing exactly what to say to who and when & how. Fighting doesn't usually mean allot in the real world, even in terms of physical intimidation. Paul ferris ffs

Exceptions to the rule either way, obv, but proper rare in my personal experience.
