First UFC on FX event targeted for Jan. 20 in Nashville by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Nov 17, 2011 at 12:05 pm ET The UFC's first event on FX is expected to take place Jan. 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. MMAjunkie.com confirmed the tentative plans with event sources. Yahoo! Sports' "Cagewriter" blog first reported the event details. However, a representative from the Tennessee Athletic Commission told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) no event officially is on the books (though that's not unusual with the being two months away). As UFC officials announced on Wednesday, the first UFC on FX event features welterweights Josh Neer (32-10-1 MMA, 5-6 UFC) vs. Duane "Bang" Ludwig (22-11 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and heavyweights Pat Barry (6-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC) vs. Christian Morecraft (7-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC). However, an event date, location and venue were not initially revealed. It's also not clear if the event will continue under the UFC Fight Night banner or if the FX-televised events will have a new name. As part of the UFC's landmark seven-year deal with FOX, most of the UFC's free-TV fights move from Spike TV (and Versus) to FX in 2012. The FOX network, as well as FOX-owned FUEL TV, also will air some events beginning next year. The 19,000-seat Bridgestone Arena is home to the NHL's Nashville Predators. The venue hosted UFC Fight Night 18 in 2009, which set a UFC Fight Night attendance record with 10,267 attendees. (UFC Fight Night 24 in Seattle later broke the record a couple years later with 13,741 attendees.)
If you don't know what FX is, and you haven't actually seen the event yet, how do you know it's a terrible event? And does your mother know you have her high school yearbook picture as your avatar?
